CEU’s & Type: 0.6 CEU’s (6 contact hours). Type One: This workshop will teach therapists specific skills for evaluation and treatment intervention with patients or clients.
Description: Evaluate and treat Spanish-speaking clients with confidence. The purpose of this workshop it to learn how to integrate into therapists’ practice relevant Spanish vocabulary, sentences, and phrases to provide immediate care to a client. In this workshop you will learn Spanish salutation and introductions, vocabulary for body systems (the musculoskeletal, nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems), common phrases for evaluation and treatment (including complementary therapies), common phrases for precaution and safety, common phrases for client and caregiver education. Therapists will have an opportunity to practice using medical Spanish through guided labs, individual exercises, mini-dialogues, and case studies.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
• Identify key relevant rehabilitation-specific Spanish words, phrases, and commands for evaluation and treatment
• Review appropriate usage of rehabilitation-specific Spanish words, phrases, and commands
• Through practice in small groups articulate and respond to key rehabilitation words, phrases, and commands
• Use course tools and handouts to perform a therapy evaluation or therapeutic exercise session (UE/LE)

Instructional Methods: PowerPoint presentation, reading of written material, demonstration and practice opportunities as well as application of
knowledge through sample case studies. There is also an online exam for each one-hour of the course.

Continuing Education credit: A certificate of completion for 0.6 CEU’s (6 contact hours) will be awarded for attendance of entire workshop. Each attendee must successfully complete the web-based multiple choice test with a score of 75% or higher to obtain their certificate. Attendee will be able to immediately print out their electronic certificate. Test records will be retained in the approved
provider records.

Course Director: Sabrina Castaneda, M.S., MOT, OTR, CYTh, E-RYT500, Certified Pilates Instructor, has been a rehabilitation specialist for nearly twenty years. Sabrina is fluent in Spanish and French. Sabrina is a licensed and registered occupational therapist, certified yoga therapist and teacher and
certified Pilates instructor. Sabrina has graduate degrees in Human development & family studies with a minor in psychology, occupational therapy with a minor in psychology. She is currently completing her doctorate in occupational therapy. Post-graduate studies and minors include art therapy, writing, and neuroscience. She is the founder and director of Atha yoga and Pilates School which certifies yoga therapists and teachers and Pilates instructors. She is lead teacher at her studio in Dallas, Texas which provides a variety of yoga classes to the general public and director of continuing education for HealthLinkRx. Sabrina has created and presented a variety of workshops for stress management, health promotion and wellness at the corporate level and as a volunteer for underserved
populations. Sabrina has found that through her programs many of her clients have found practical, natural, healthful practices enabling them to handle life’s stresses in constructive and balanced ways.
