The Role

Overview of the role

Comcare is seeking a senior experienced change leader to develop and implement leadership, people and cultural change strategies to support the implementation of Comcare’s five-year strategic plan. You will work to the CEO to support the

Comcare executive and senior leaders to shape and guide a resilient, empathic, agile and responsive culture to support the organisation on its change journey to build a stronger Comcare.

You will have experience in leading significant organisational development and cultural change programs, in designing leadership strategy and delivering

measurable results. You will have highly developed communication skills, people skills and leadership skills and have detailed knowledge of contemporary approaches to organisational and leadership development, organisational culture and change management.

You will lead a small team and work closely with the teams responsible for internal communications, business and strategic planning and people.

This position is a non-ongoing position for 18 months and may be extended for a further six months. The aim is to build organisation-wide capability and confidence to embrace and embed change as a business-as-usual discipline.

Overview of the Office of the CEO

The Office of the CEO undertakes key functions to provide assurance to the CEO that organisational systems and processes are sound. The Office also supports the CEO by managing strategic communications and strategic relationships with external stakeholders. The 2015 Team will drive organisational, leadership and cultural change to support the implementation of the 2015 strategic plan.

Primary responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will:

1. Lead a small team to design and develop strategies to achieve leadership and cultural change to deliver 2015 plan priorities

2. Implement strategies to deliver a more responsive, empathic and agile culture to ensure a more resilient and adaptive organisation

3. Coordinate change management initiatives to ensure leaders are competent in building and delivering change programs

4. Oversee the portfolio of leadership development for executive and senior leaders including the coordination of Comcare’s Leadership Forum 5. Coordinate significant external exchange and development programs to

maximise the impact and effective of collaboration and new ways of working 6. Coordinate succession and talent management for Comcare’s senior leaders

7. Actively develop working relationships across the organisation and with stakeholders that are effective, collaborative and strategic.

8. Supervise, guide and/or mentor other staff as required

9. Commit to, promote and model the APS Values and APS Code of Conduct.

The Selection Process

Comcare uses merit in our competitive selection process. The standard process involves assessing an eligible applicant against the selection criteria for the relevant position. Comcare’s processes are likely to take approximately eight weeks for short listing, interviewing, reference checking and offers to be made.

How to address the selection criteria

The selection criteria describe the capabilities, skills and knowledge required to achieve the outcomes of the role. Your statement of claims against the selection criteria is your opportunity to demonstrate your competency to the selection panel, and is the most important factor in determining whether your application will be short-listed for further consideration. It is recommended that you frame your statement of claims against the selection criteria in the context of the primary responsibilities of the role and the qualifications and/or experience identified as a requirement for the position. Your claims against each criterion should be no longer than a page. It is important that you demonstrate how you will be of value to the job and the

organisation. Make sure you adequately address each selection criterion and provide evidence of your suitability. Do not simply state that you meet the requirements of the

selection criteria. Give examples from your current or past role(s) which demonstrate how you meet the criterion. Utilising the STAR approach will assist you responding to the selection criteria. The STAR approach is one way of presenting information against selection criteria. For each criteria think about the following and use these points to form sentences:

Situation: Set the context by describing the circumstance whether you used the skills or qualities and gained the experience.

Task: What was your role?

Approach: What did you do and how did you do it? Result: What did you achieve?

What was the end result and how does it relate to the job you are
