Ralph Prawdzik Our Holy Father, Pope Francis announced that the Year of Saint

Joseph will take place from December 8, 2020 until December 8, 2021. Each month there is a special theme for Saint Joseph and for this month of January it is Saint Joseph, Most Valiant Protector of the Church.

St. Joseph had the entire Church under his protection since the Holy Family was the Church. Our Lady is the Mother and Image of the Church, the Holy Spirit the soul of the Church and Christ the Church’s head. To Joseph this treasure was entrusted and by his wit, his obedience and his sacrifice he valiantly defended them.

Below is a summary of how you can receive the special indulgences granted by the Holy See for the Year of St. Joseph. The plenary indulgence is granted under the usual conditions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer ac-cording to the intentions of the Holy Father) to the faithful who, with a spirit de-tached from any sin, participate in the Year of Saint Joseph on the occasions and in the manner indicated by this Apostolic Penitentiary:

x Meditate for at least 30 minutes on the Our Father

x Participate in a spiritual retreat of at least one day that includes a meditation on Saint Joseph

x Perform a corporal or spiritual work of mercy

x Recite the Holy Rosary in families and between the husband and wife x Entrust their work daily to the protection of Saint Joseph and to all believers

who invoke with their prayers the intercession of the worker of Nazareth x Pray the litany of Saint Joseph or some other prayer to Saint Joseph, typical of

the other liturgical traditions, for the persecuted Church and for the relief of all persecuted Christians

x Pray any lawfully approved prayer or act of piety in honor of Saint Joseph, for example “To you oh blessed Joseph,” especially on:

+ March 19th (Solemnity of St. Joseph) + May 1st (Feast of St. Joseph the Worker) + December 26th (Feast of the Holy Family)

+ The Sunday of Saint Joseph (according to the Byzantine tradition) + The 19th day of every month

+ Every Wednesday (a day dedicated to the memory of the Saint according to the Latin tradition)

x The gift of plenary indulgence extends particularly to — + The elderly

+ The sick + The dying

+ All those who for legitimate reasons cannot leave their home - who, with the spirit detached from any sin and with the intention of fulfilling, as soon as possible, the three usual conditions, in your own home or wherever the impediment holds you, pray an act of piety in honor of Saint Joseph, consolation of the sick and patron of good death, confidently offering God the pains and difficulties of his life.

PSR NEWS

Try to put in the hearts of your children a love for home. Make them long to be with their fami-lies. So much sin could be avoided if only people really love as family. Even the rich are hungry for love,

for being cared for, for being wanted, for having someone to call their own. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Most of us could not probably wait to say good-bye to 2020 and were delighted to embrace 2021 with hope and renewed strength. Yes, this past year, we had experienced various hard-ships, losses, sudden changes, anxiety and/or at least some uncertainties. Yet, we also have received grace upon grace because God was and is always there for us with his unconditional love. One of the disguised blessings caused by this current pandemic was the time we stayed home together with our immediate family to bond and be there for one another and pray for one another. Thus, people are kinder, more understanding and appreciative! So keep praying! Make our homes more loving and com-forting so our children won’t look for love in the wrong places.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH

PRAYER TO SAINT JOSEPH

To You, O blessed Joseph,

do we come in our tribulation,

and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse,

we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you

to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God

and through the paternal love

with which you embraced the Child Jesus,

we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance

which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood,

and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family,

defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ;

O most loving father, ward off from us

every contagion of error and corrupting influence;

O our most mighty protector, be kind to us

and from heaven assist us in our struggle

with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril,

so now protect God's Holy Church

from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity;

shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection,

so that, supported by your example and your aid,

we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness,

and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven.

AMEN.
