The referee blew the whistle, and Ayedasyn took the

kickoff and passed the ball to me. As I run with the

ball my speed increases and so does the speed of the

ball. The game has now begun!

Acceleration is the change in an object's speed or

When Ayedasyn passed the ball to me, it traveled at a

constant speed. I stopped the ball with my foot to

stop it from moving. The ball was now at rest on the

ground until I gave it a hard kick and sent the ball up

the field.

Mass is the amount of matter or stuff in

something. Patrick has a lot of mass

because he has a lot of stuff in him.

I look at Ayedasyn and say, “WOW! Look at Patrick he has

such a big mass.” She stares at me and says, “NOOO

As I was racing after Spongebob, who was taking

the soccer ball up the field, I didn’t see Patrick

running right toward me. Since we were both only

paying attention to the ball, we both ended up

running into each other. We bounced off each other

and flew in opposite directions (but I went much

farther, ouch!).

Patrick takes the pass from Spongebob and he gives the ball a huge force as he

takes a shot for the goal. Luckily it bounces off the goal post and misses. I take the

ball and quickly pass it to Ayedasyn. I kick the ball with a small force and she takes

the ball up the field.

Newton’s Second Law also shows if a bigger force is applied to

something, it will accelerate more. Patrick kicks the ball with

more force than Natasha. When he kicks the soccer ball it will

accelerate more (go faster) than when Natasha kicked it
