Objective: identify letter-sound correspondence, interact during reading
Materials needed: book, glue, attached worksheet, pre-cut icons, real objects if possible Directions: Introduce new book for the week and read book aloud. Then, introduce letter “P” on the
attached page. Listen to the letter “P” sound in the words of the attached picture icons. If possible, show the student the actual objects paired with the picture (purple, pasta, pink). Directions: An adult should cut out the characters in the story on the attached page. Then, read story aloud and have the student find the matching story character as you read along. You can
then ask the student to identify the story character out of a choice of 2-3. SAVE THESE CUT OUTS FOR ACTIVITY #3 AS WELL.

Activity #5 Language Arts
(Listening activity)
Objective: use expressive vocabulary, attend and engage
Materials: book, core word icons, items around the house that make noise
Directions: Read the story aloud. Then, go on a scavenger hunt around the house. Find five items that make a sound/noise. (Example: phone ringing, musical toy, instrument, hair dryer, blender, etc.) Have the student listen to the sound the item makes. Then ask if they like or do not like the
sound using the core word symbols. Also incorporate core words “go” and “stop” to make the sound “go” or “stop” accordingly. Let the student direct this part of the activity using their icons or

Activity #6 Math
(See attached page for activity)
Objective: identify numbers, count with 1:1 correspondence Materials: attached worksheet, glue, brown paper bag or cereal box
