Clinical Nursing Research

Scope of clinical research

• acute to chronic care experiences across the

life span;

• health promotion and preventive care to

end-of-life care; and

• care for individuals, families, and

communities in diverse settings.

Research

• Identifies ways that the organization and

delivery of health care influence quality, cost, and the experience of patients and families

• Evaluates clinical services

• Explores appropriate balance of personnel to

provide effective and efficient care while controlling costs of health care

• Developing and testing more efficient

educational processes

• Identifying new ways to incorporate

technology in order to enhance learning

Nursing Research Priorities

• The establishment of priorities is the

responsibility of nurse scientists, practitioners and educators.

• Research priorities provide structure for the

scientific endeavours of the discipline,

promote depth in developing the knowledge base, and provide direction for nursing
