A welcoming home,

where we can share firm values

The enterprise is the man who does. Doing business means having an ensemble of technical, economical, human and social values, with which you can give concreteness to creative abilities. AITI supports entrepreneurs, companies and employees in the creation of a useful wealth, neither ephemeral, nor an end unto itself, the result of a fair committment and worth of attention.

With discreteness and competence we are at hand to welcome you and to assist you in your experiences and activities, through our greatest involvement.

Welcome to AITI, the Association for companies operating in the Ti-cino canton with a potential of over 15000 jobs and turnovers higher than 13 billion Swiss francs. Our industrial system is made of mainly small and medium size companies with a strong vocation to exporta-tion; in fact over three quarters of the production is headed abroad. Thanks to this dynamic we acquired a certain experience in being able to “be welcomed” in other countries, even far away. Experience that we gladly put at hand of companies operating in Ticino or that wish to settle here.

Stefano Modenini Director AITI

The territory competitiveness growth goes through slender state regu-lations, presence of qualified staff and flexibility in the job market, modern communication media, capital availability and energy at com-petitive prices, appropriate tax policies, access to innovation and tech-nology transfer and strict respect of the environment and of people. The action of those who do business is based on the ability of generat-ing profits grantgenerat-ing maximum responsibility at the same time, both in the economical and social areas.

That balance is supported by companies that have an appeal at in-ternational level, that are able to listen to local needs and that are in continuous dialogue with Government, Parliament, political Parties, workers Organizations and everyone who enlivens society.

The Ticino industrial tissue, together with the important and vital work of masteries offers spaces to young people in the fields of research, technic, finance, marketing and logistics, making the system evolved in terms of professional offers typologies. This vision of the sector is the reference point from which the Association has started to recon-firm two of its important historical postulates:

• the structuring of a firm values code and

• the opportunity to be provided for an industrial policy that is aimed to the wardship of sector development.

AITI’s industrial Policy aims to the quantitative and qualitative growth of current industrial networks and to the development of new enter-prises, thanks to the preservation and improvement of territory com-petitiveness. These preambles are based on a vision that mainly fore-sees:

• institutional relations; • slender state regulations;

• availability and fluency of modern communication media and rapid and inexpensive transportation means;

• innovation access and technology transfer promotion; • employees professional competences development; • progressive reduction of business labor cost, together with the preservation of wages purchasing power;

• organizational flexibility increase;

• energy resources available at competitive prices;

• facilitations in terms of capital access and tax policies favourable to investments and entrepreneurship;

• active promotion of labor peace;

AITI’s expressed values tend to a society in which free initiative stands in the center putting themselves, with a sense of moral responsibility and integrity, in the service of the spirit of open minded people and of a free market. The aim is to contribute to the development process of the industrial economy and to the civil growth of the Country with which the conversation is continuous.

The elements of the entire duties system which are considered sub-stantial are:

• preserve and increase the reputation of entrepreneurs as a independent social force, responsible and ethically fair;

• contribute concretely to the improvement of the Country–system through industrial entrepreneurs behaviors.

From the top of the Association to the single associate we commit to act with transparency respecting behavioral models inspired to inde-pendence, integrity, ethic, developing, consequently, coherent actions with illustrated intents. We are aware that every behavior not in line with our expressed values damages the image of the entire category, and of every AITI interlocutor. The objective of coherence is indeed a distinctive element for us, encoded and shared amongst associates through the Association’s Code of Ethics, present since 1992.

Our stock of knowledge in constant movement allows us to regularly update our modus operandi adapting it to affiliated enterprises stim-uli.

In its first 50 years AITI has always been able to position in the middle: between present needs and those of the future.

Identity

AITI is recognized as representative for the industrial sector of Italian Switzer-land. Its own image positioning, both towards the outside and the inside of the Association, puts it as privileged interlocutor with the territory social and extraeconomical tissue, other than technical partners for Institu-tions, local, national and foreign com-panies and the credit system.

Rappresentative

AITI does not take political sides po-sitioning in operational and ideleogi-cal independence, aligned with the Swiss Entrepreneurs Union and econ-omiesuisse, the the Swiss Business Federation, to which it is associated. It executes a promotional role for companies towards Institutions, pub-lic administrations, economical, politi-cal, social and trade organizations. It

promotes a participated and demo-cratic management of its internal life, involving associates.

Services

The services offered are wide and well-thought. They lever on a man-agement culture that is characterized by efficiency and professionalism and by value added in terms of flexibility, personalization and interdisciplinarity.

AITI’s values

(7)

AITI is an independent economical association, born in 1962, with firm relationships, at national level, with the main economical organiza-tions of the Country, particularly the Swiss Entrepreneurs Union and economiesuisse, the Swiss Business Federation.

AITI’s action is oriented to determine a clear industrial and entrepre-neurial profile, expression of a territory where industry is the main creator of cantonal wealth (about 21% of GDP).

The formula that puts enterprises together with our Association comes from the union of three ingredients: a solid sector identity openly lived in the territory; the ability to represent associates interests and a con-solidated range of services offered.

The services profile is characterized by a pragmatic response to companies practices needs. AITI is able to offer informative services on laws, regula-tions and various mesures (current and/or in study), release of working permits for foreigners, labor rights and on every other subject on which an industrial interest can be applied or registered. With the establishment of AitiServizi SA in 2004, the

Asso-A clear industrial and entrepreneurial profile

ciation has significantly increased its penetration within the sector, offer-ing associates a number of new op-portunities: insurance brokerage for people branches and general branch-es, the selection and training of staff and various other faciliations for the acquisition of goods and services. AitiServizi SA leans on platforms such as impresa.ch and www.e-lavoro.ch, that put themselves up for

being reference points to companies of Italian Switzerland. A wide offer, an important number of tools and valid promotional proposals will be little by little integrated on request and rec-commendation by AITI’s associated companies.

At present the Ticino industry is the first creator of wealth in the can-ton, as a mark of the innovation ability and dynamic of this sector. Competitiveness, internationalization, enlargement and qualification of the production base, facilitation and support to investment pro-cesses, promotion of technological innovation, these are the priority needs and requests from the world of enterprises that AITI inteds to continue promoting.

AITI cooperates independently with other cantonal economical asso-ciations and it is member nationally of both the Swiss Entrepreneurs Union and Economiesuisse, the Federation of Swiss Enterprises.
