CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS

ESO Science Outreach Network has established a network of persons in the ESO Member

states and other countries who serve as local contacts for the media in connection with ESO developments, Press Releases, etc. At the same time, they may help to provide useful contacts between the media and the scientists in their area. The ESON members, or their representatives, are typically full-time science communicators who know the national players (media, academia etc.) and regularly interact with them, are able to find a national angle, have a strong interest in promoting ESO and provide regular inputs and ideas for how to best reach the target groups in their area.

Cosmic Diary Project – Blogger Throughout this project, all the bloggers will be asked to

explain one particular aspect of their work to the public. In a true exercise of science communication, these scientists will use easy-to-understand language to translate the nuts and bolts of their scientific research into a popular science article. This will be their challenge.

Portal to the Universe – Editor Keeping up-to-date with cutting-edge astronomy and

space science breakthroughs has just become that much easier, thanks to the Portal To The Universe, the latest Cornerstone project of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009). As a high-tech website embracing Web 2.0 technologies, the Portal To The Universe aims to become a one-stop-shop for astronomy news.

A SHORT BIO

I am a proffessional astronomer and a communication scientist, working primarily on improwing our understanding of extrasolar planets. I work at the Astrophysics Research Centre & Ulupınar Observatory of the University of Canakkale in Turkey. I graduated physics department in 2007. My thesis is about ‘A Status Report and Planning of Future for Exoplanet Observations . I’m interested in this topic and effects on society. COMU has an astrophysical research centre and observatory, I’ve been working there since 2004 ,and now working as an observer for a universal researcher science project which coordinated between ESO, SAO & Canakkale University Astrophysics Res. Centre.
