2015 Mid America National Meet, Hickory Corners, Michigan

Chaired by LCOC National

We welcome you to Hickory Corners, Michigan, to the 2015 Mid America National Meet, August 5 through August 9, 2015. Hickory Corners, long time home to the Gilmore Automotive museum, the CCCA, Franklin and other well known museums is also the home of the new Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum (LMCHM). Rich in motor car history, the LMCHM will be the center point of our Mid America National Meet. This meet will be hosted by all four sponsoring Lincoln Clubs, the Lincoln Owners Club, the Lincoln Zephyr Owners Club, the Road Race Lincoln Registry and chaired by the Lincoln and Continental Owners Club.

This meet will be open to all Lincoln Clubs members. Additionally, any Lincoln owner is also invited to register and attend this grand event. All Lincoln Clubs are invited to participate in Concours judging by LCOC or if the club desires, they may conduct their judging separately, using their own club standards. Please come with your Lincoln, wither it be for competition or exhibition, we all would like to see it on the show field, to be enjoyed and admired by all in attendance on this very special day.

Each day will be filled with automotive related activities. If you love classic automobiles and enjoy being with other really great Lincoln owners and their families, then this is the single best event for you to attend in 2015. Look for Dick Koop’s tech session on Friday covering Leather Care and Products, plus a session on either body repair or small parts painting.

Wednesday evening, we will be hosting our traditional Welcoming reception featuring a buffet dinner, which will offer an opportunity for you to visit with some of your longtime Lincoln club friends and meet some new ones that will be attending this very special event for the first time.

Thursday will have a full day of activities in Saugatuck, Michigan. We will begin with a driving tour to Saugatuck, which is the home base of the Star of Saugatuck, a stern wheeler paddle boat for a cruise on the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan, and is located about 60 miles from our hotel. Star of Saugatuck’s capacity for this event is 125 people; please register early to make sure you have reservation. If you choose not to drive your classic Lincoln on the tour, we will help you find someone that you can ride along with, who will be driving the tour. This tour will feature People’s Choice awards for each decade, and the Best of Tour, for all Lincolns driven on the tour. After boarding the Star of Saugatuck, you will be able to view the quaintness of Saugatuck from the water, while heading down the Kalamazoo River. We will be able to view beautiful homes and cottages, boats of every shape and size and the natural beauty of the Kalamazoo river before we enter the majesty of Lake Michigan. As we travel Lake Michigan’s shoreline you may be able to see the `old lighthouse’ on the north end of Oval Beach or make out the `big red’ light house at the Holland harbor on a clear day and miles of spectacular sand dunes. We will lunch on board the Star of Saugatuck. After our cruise, you may spend the rest of the day visiting in surroundings reminiscent of vintage, small town America, whose hallmarks are scenic beauty and a unique collection of shops, restaurants and art galleries. No planned activity is scheduled for Thursday night.

Friday, we will drive to Hickory Corners, and spend a full day devoted to viewing our new Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum and the other fine partner museums located on the Gilmore grounds. This includes the Classic Car Club of America Museum, Pierce-Arrow Museum, Franklin Collection, Cadillac-LaSalle Club Museum, Tucker Historical Collection, Checker Motors Archive and Model A Ford Museum.

If you would prefer to make a side trip on Friday, maps will be available in Registration room to FireKeepers Casino in Battle Lake, MI, and to local attractions. There will be plenty of time for visiting with friends, mechanical judging, tech sessions, car clean up and final detailing. Friday evening will begin with a Happy Hour. Our Friday night Texas style BBQ will be followed by a lively Lincoln parts and memorabilia auction. We need merchandise for our auction, please check your garage for unused Lincoln parts that our Lincoln enthusiasts would be interested in bidding on. Please bring plenty of cash or your check book and take home some great items for your Lincoln’s.

Saturday morning, we will again drive back to Hickory Corners to begin our car show and Concourse Judging. For those that prefer not to have their Lincoln judged, you may enter your car in the Exhibition class, which is a non-judged class for all cars from the oldest to the newest. All the cars must be on the show field by 10:00 AM. Saturday night will again begin with a happy hour, followed by our Lincoln Diamond Jubilee Buffet and Awards Ceremony. Enjoy the company of good friends and traditional Michigan hospitality while having fun with our beloved Lincolns.

Sunday will be reserved for picture taking and saying goodbye to our old and new friends. While you are at the 90 acre historic Gilmore campus on Friday and Saturday, you, your family and your friends will be able to explore the nooks and crannies of this great institution. See, and have your car photographed by an old fashioned gas station. Children can stand inches from a 1920’s Lincoln. Grandparents share stories about a 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet, as their smiles are reflected in the car’s chrome. Enjoy strolling the campus that is filled with classic automobiles. Eat lunch in the authentic Blue Moon Diner. Walk right up to an amazing collection of over 300 vintage automobiles, motorcycles, and memories. It’s America’s Signature Collection. This is the ultimate experience for everyone in your family.

Help us celebrate the “Continental Diamond Jubilee 75 years Young” This is the one National Lincoln Meet you will not want to miss, as all major Lincoln car clubs will be participating. For more information, go to the Gilmore Car Museum web site: www.gilmorecarmuseum.org and the Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum web site: www.lincolncarmuseum.org. When you register for this meet you will have an opportunity to Join or Donate to the Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Foundation for promoting and upkeep of this fine Museum.

Kalamazoo’s, newly remodeled Four Points Kalamazoo by Sheraton hotel welcomes you with superior accommodations, fine dining and exceptional amenities with true Michigan hospitality. Our host Hotel is just over 15 miles from Hickory Corners, where our new museum awaits your viewing.
