WHAT’S THIS ADVENTURE ABOUT?

This will be our 8th tour to the amazing Galapagos Islands.

Nature is unafraid of humans - this offering one of life’s great nature experiences. For our cruise, we are targeting the islands with lovely warm days to enjoy the water and nature and flatter sea conditions. We sail at night, arriving for daily activities, this again offering the best comfort and maximising your nature adventures. Imagine joining a small group for 6 days on our 1st Class motor yacht. This will not be a standard tour of the Galapagos Islands. Our vessel will offer a great stable platform as we aim for a combination of comfort and value for money.

AND...

Darran is happy to help you extend your time in the Galapagos. He highly recommends a few days land based.

Great 4 star accommodation right on the water with mixed daily activities available to suit your interest and budget.

We travel in a small group which provides flexible arrangements that ordinary tours with their usual large groups can not provide. We can not stress enough how the following combination of leading world experts will make this a holiday of a life time: Local expert crew, skipper, naturalist guide and two professional WPA photo guides.

PHOTO adventure ...

In 2023, we invite you to photograph some of the best landscapes, culture and nature locations in the world! The diversity will blow you away!

GREAT TOURS COME IN SMALL GROUPS

We aim to provide you with the best value for your holiday.

WHO BOOKS OUR PHOTO HOLIDAYS?

From ‘point and shoot’ amateur photographers to seasoned photographic veterans, we enjoy a broad cross-section of photo enthusiasts on every tour. Not super keen on snapping?

No problem. You are still guaranteed a great time as you are one of the group. Our unique locations, top guides and small travel groups make sure of it. While our clients vary in age and experience, all attend with the same goal — to have a fantastic holiday. We ensure every client gets exactly that.

Our team ensures you never settle for less than the best, with over 80 years of combined experience tailoring bespoke travel quests. We offer lovely 3/4 star accommodation for your comfort and enjoyment. We work towards delivering the time of your life. (5)

This is an exclusive ship photo adventure! (Subject to minimum numbers of 12 bookings.) The following itinerary is a guide only, for 6 days of photo adventures. All meals, accommodation, local expert naturalist and your personal WPA photo guides are included. Your guides will help to optimise all adventure options.

Darran can help you with best options.

DAY 1: GUAYAQUIL TO BALTRA ISLAND November 2

We depart Guayaquil (as a group) and transfer to Guayaquil Airport for our flight to the Galapagos Islands - how exciting!

(This flight is included.) We land at Baltra airport near Santa Cruz Island. Reception at airport - welcome drink and lunch on board the EcoGalaxy. We then head to the famous Charles Darwin Station, located in the Main Port of Santa Cruz Island. We will take our private bus to the entrance of the centre of breeding where we go to appreciate tortoises and land iguanas. This centre is the main site of breeding of the islands. Animals that were in danger of extinction in the different islands are maintained in captivity, thanks to the dedicated work of several institutions.

DAY 2: ISABELA ISLAND November 3

TINTORERAS: Located to the south of Puerto Villamil, we will arrive at Tintoreras by Panga. There is a small bay with turquoise water where you can appreciate sea lions, marine tortoises, marine iguanas and rays. The most part of this trail we will find volcanic lava of type AA. Lunch. PM BREEDING CENTER – HUMEDALES & WALL OF TEARS: The Breeding Centre is located 1.5 Km from Puerto Villamil. This place is dedicated to the reproduction of several species of tortoises in captivity; we will find 330 tortoises between young and adult. The Breeding Centre has beautiful gardens composed by native plants. Visit Humedales: complexes of paths which include sites like: The Orchilla Hill, from this viewpoint you can admire the bay, Puerto Villamil, Volcano Sierra Negra, islets and rocks. El Estero, Poza Escondida, Poza Redonda, Tunel Del Estero are others paths located in Humedales area, each one with its beautiful landscape and characteristic. After this, we have a walking to Wall of Tears, a big wall build by prisoners; in our pathway to this site, we will see land tortoises.

DAY 3: ISABELA IS. ELIZABETH BAY November 4

This is one of the island’s breeding sites for penguins.

Located on the west coast of Isabela, Elizabeth Point is a marine visitor site. Visit red mangrove cove: Brown pelicans, flightless cormorants, spotted eagle rays, and golden ray’s and sea lions are often seen. Lunch

URBINA BAY: this place is located at the base of Alcedo Volcano between Elizabeth Bay and Tagus Cove. Wet landing. Trail length is around 3.20 Km; during this walking we can observe land iguanas, hawks, tortoises; also it is possible to see red and blue lobsters.

DAY 4: FERNANDINA & ISABELA ISLAND FERNANDINA ISLAND – ESPINOZA POINT

November 5

Fernandina is the 3rd largest island of the Galapagos and has just one location to visit: Espinoza Point. Espinoza Point is famous site because you will find big colonies of marine iguanas and it is a unique place where the flightless Cormorant lives, plus Galapagos penguin, hawk, snakes of Galapagos and many others.

From Espinoza Point we can admire Fernandina Island and its volcano which last eruption was on May 2005.

Fernandina is the only island that has not had any mammals introduced. In the nesting time of the marine iguana (January to June) we take care when we are walking. We return to the EcoGalaxy.

Lunch. ISABELA ISLAND: VICENTE ROCA POINT: is comprised of two separate coves, this site is a large bay with spectacular sea life. Keep an eye out for seahorses, sea turtles, and the strange yet fascinating Mola-mola (sunfish).

“What I love about the Galapagos ship tour is our lovely boat and the fact that we travel at night and explore during the day.

It helps my sea legs and offers the best photo opportunities!”

DAY 5: SANTIAGO ISLAND & RABIDA IS.

November 6

EGAS PORT: In this site we find a black sand beach. At the south of this beach there is a volcano called Pan de Azucar. It has volcanic deposits which have contributed to the formation of this black sand beach. The crater of this volcano has a salt lake which in warm time becomes dry. Lunch. RABIDA ISLAND: The visitor site is located on the east coast of Rabida Island, consists of a red sand beach, a coastal lagoon behind the beach, and a loop trail. The approximate distance of the trail is 1.1 kilometers.

The colour of the rocks and sand on the beach is due to the very porous volcanic material, which with the help of environmental factors (rain, salt water and sea breeze, has acted as an oxidizing agent. The main attraction of the place is the red sand beach, scenery, aside from the vegetation of the arid zone and the presence of native and endemic species.

Lots of creatures so have your camera ready!

DAY 6: SANTA CRUZ ISLAND TO GUAYAQUIL November 7

A final morning adventure before we time our departure to the airport and our flight back to the mainland. Your flight cost is included back to Guayaquil. The tour ends on arrival.

THE ROLE OF YOUR PHOTO GUIDE …

They are passionate to make sure that you get the best photo opportunities possible and to help you have a great holiday. It is your guides responsibility to be in charge and to maximise daily activities to suit the group, rather than cater to individual requests and interests. Please respect their judgment and experience. They will be offering mini workshops during the tour. Your photo guides are always available to help in the field on all days and as required on ship. You only need to ask.

This is their mission …

I DO, OR I WANT TO TEACH PHOTOGRAPHY

In this modern age, lots of enthusiasts are moving to teaching photography. We have always encouraged this and have several past customers who teach photography regularly.

However, not at our events please! Our events are designed specifically for photo enthusiasts and semi professionals who shoot, but do not teach or run photo education events or services. (In any form.) We offer a separate special rate and service for those that aspire to teach photography, or those that are teaching photography. Deposits are non refundable because: (and not limited to) 1. We specially hold a place for you on a small group tour.

2. Money is paid to our suppliers to guarantee accommodation and tour services.

3. We maybe visiting a location in prime time, for animal viewing (as an example).

4. We may have turned away bookings.

5. Accommodation maybe limited.

6. WPA staff have undertaken office work and logistical organisation before departure, on your booking.

Travel insurance will help to protect your payments against unforeseen cancellation.

International class photo tuition and experienced guide, and as per event itinerary – land transport, entrance fees, special tours, accommodation and meals. Please check individual itineraries or ask for more information.

NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR PACKAGE

Most events do not include flights, airport transfers, pre-tour accommodation, airport tax, alcoholic beverages and wine, laundry, tips to local staff and travel insurance. Please check your event itinerary.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Please note that we work on a ‘personal responsibility’ system with all aspects of our events. The sheer nature of travelling, outdoor locations, new countries or locations has some risks.

Please read ‘Responsibility’ section for further details, located on our booking form.

LOGISTICS

Accommodation – when ever possible, tour participants are lodged in comfortable, modern hotels/lodges/chalets. We select among the best available accommodation to a balance of optimising shooting opportunities and budgets. Some of the best photographic destinations are far from ‘normal’

accommodation. Please check the tour itinerary.

Meals are always a special part of our tours for the camaraderie they offer and the opportunity they provide to talk photography, and for you to try new foods from different areas. Depending on the tour and specific locale, meals may be included, or not.

We balance this to the region and budgets.

Participants are responsible for their own bar tab including bottled water, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Please check the itinerary.

MINIMUM NUMBERS

PHOTOGRAPHS & VIDEO

World Photo Adventures reserves the right to take photos of participants at the events to use for marketing and education purposes only. This includes social media postings. Group images of the adventure can be supplied after the event to tour members.

FLIGHTS

We do not include your international flights. (Or any other flights, unless included in the itinerary.)

To make sure you book the correct dates and times, we would request the following:

1. Don’t purchase any air tickets, until our guides flights have been booked, which we will do approximately 8 – 9 months prior to the tour departure. We will advise you when the guides flights are booked and you can then use this itinerary, to help you use points or similar. This will also coincide with confirming the tour departure, making sure we have met minimum passenger numbers for the tour and the logistics of the tour have not changed.

2. We suggest you arrive a minimum of 48 hours prior to the tour departure – to help with jet lag and in case of airline delays.

Please advise your flight details no later than one month prior to departure. We will need a record of the groups arrival and departure information.

CONTACTS AND SUPPLIERS

WPA has built up a unique line of contacts and suppliers around the world. These are often our friends and are definitely an important facet to the success of our business. We are happy to help you make contact with these individuals and companies as we understand new friendships are made and that gifts might be sent. Please note that any other ‘business’

or ‘service’ requests, must be directed through our office.
