Head of College – Art, Design and the Built Environment
Study Abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in British culture and education. If you’re attending a college or university outside the UK you can apply to spend part of your studies on one of our art, design and built environment undergraduate courses. You’ll find it a rewarding and invaluable
experience where you will have the opportunity to: • explore Nottingham and the UK to broaden
your international outlook;
• join in with student excursions to places around the UK of special interest;
• learn from UK practitioners who will help you engage with new ways of working;
• work with processes and resources that you may not have access to elsewhere;
• integrate with NTU students and follow the same curriculum of lectures, coursework and technical workshops; and
• receive support and guidance to ensure you leave with new skills and innovative work.
You will normally join the second year of an undergraduate course. Because of this you must have completed at least one year of study in the same or very similar subject.
Studying at NTU may feel quite different from home, and that is why Study Abroad is so special. You will find you have more time to explore your subject independently and research a theme in greater detail. There will be the opportunity to challenge and debate your ideas with fellow students and lecturers, thus ensuring you can talk about your ideas and work with confidence. Upon completing your studies at NTU you will have a new network of friends and practitioners and an experience of the UK to be envied. And check out our Summer Study Abroad programme. For three weeks in July you can get creative in Nottingham and have the experience of a lifetime, learn something new and celebrate the English summertime.

CREDITS AND GRADES
All courses have credits attached. One credit is the equivalent to ten study hours and could be a combination of lectures, studio work, seminars, tutorials, independent research and excursions. In general, a full year is equivalent to 120 credits. Upon completing your studies you will be sent a ‘Notification of Results’. This document records the projects you have completed with an overall grade for your time here and any feedback from your academic leader. The grading structure in the UK may differ from home so a document explaining the conversion will also be provided with your results which you can present to your home academic staff. Based on this information your home college should then calculate equivalency towards your current studies.
VISAS
If your application to Study Abroad is successful you will be sent guidance about visas. If you are from a non-EEA country you may need to get a visa for your stay in the UK. Up-to-date information can be found at the Border Agency’s website:
www.ukvisas.gov.uk
If your application is successful you will be sent the relevant visa letter or CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) number to support your entry into the UK.
