WELCOME TO OUR

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

PORTFOLIO

With environmental considerations and sustainable development at the forefront of many development decisions the need to deliver a well-constructed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is now paramount to the success of large-scale schemes.

Over the last 20 years the UK’s leading planning, design and economics

consultancy Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners (NLP) - RTPI planning consultancy of the year in 2012, 2013 and 2014 - has developed significant expertise in this area.

NLP has a proven track record of managing the EIA process, and of dealing with complex issues for clients across a wide range of development sectors.

From screening and scoping, to co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams, NLP has developed significant in-house knowledge and the skills and experience to provide a comprehensive service. This, aligned with our deep understanding of the legal complexities and the

relationship of EIA to the wider planning and development process, places us at the forefront of EIA preparation and delivery.

As a testament to this first-rate expertise NLP is proud to have been awarded an EIA Quality Mark by the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA).

This brochure showcases our experience and demonstrates the benefits of using NLP.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Our track record is founded on our

commitment to consistently produce very high quality EIAs, delivering these within agreed timescales and providing value for money to our clients.

In accordance with recent case law and legislation, we have also coordinated the preparation of a number of

Supplementary Environmental Statements to accompany applications to renew planning permissions and secure reserved matters consent, in association with changes to development proposals.

CALA

H O ME S

WELCOME

Welcome to this public consultation event for our proposed development at the Bulmershe Court Campus in Woodley. Thank you for taking the time to come along today. CALA recently held a public consultation event on Monday 11th November 2013, which provided information on the first phase of homes as part of our proposed development. Thank you to those who attended the event. Your comments have helped to shape the reserved matters application for the development’s first 34 homes, which has now been submitted to Wokingham Borough Council. The application can be viewed on the Council’s website, planning reference RM/2013/2411. This exhibition will showcase the detailed plans for the remainder of the site. Site plans and some examples of house designs are displayed over the next few boards. The purpose of today’s event is to give you the chance to find out more about our overall plans for the site and give us your feedback. Here today are a number of representatives from CALA Homes and our design team, who are more than happy to discuss the proposed scheme in detail with you and answer any questions you might have. There are feedback forms available which can be completed today. Feedback received today and following this event will be taken into account before we submit our full planning application to Wokingham Borough Council.

USING NLP

TO LEAD YOUR EIA

Projects requiring EIA invariably involve

complex planning issues. A good ES should be able to help decision makers to balance environmental, social and economic impacts in a systematic way; identifying impacts consistently, logically and robustly.

Central Square, Cardiff

Client: Rightacres Property Co Ltd

NLP coordinated a hybrid planning application

and EIA for the redevelopment of Central Square.

This first phase of development includes the

demolition of Cardiff Bus Station and Marland

House to be replaced by 14,500 sqm of offices

and a media centre that will accommodate the

relocated BBC Wales Broadcasting House. NLP also prepared Socio-Economic, Townscape and Visual, Cultural Heritage and Daylight/Sunlight assessments. Planning permission was granted

in August 2015.

planning and EIA

Proven track record in stakeholder

consultation - an important aspect

of the EIA and planning process A comprehensive understanding of the latest EIA legislation, case law and best practice

approaches supported by our in-house Law

SPECIALIST

INPUTS

In addition to managing the preparation

of an ES, NLP is able to undertake the

following specialist inputs of the EIA process:

HERITAGE

SOCIO-ECONOMICS

HEALTH IMPACT ASSESSMENT

GIS & SPATIAL ANALYTICS

GRAPHIC DESIGN

DAYLIGHT, SUNLIGHT AND OVERSHADOWING

TOWNSCAPE, LANDSCAPE AND VISUAL ASSESSMENT

DIRFT III

Client: Rugby Radio Station Ltd Partnership

NLP co-ordinated the EIA, provided socio-economic

analysis and advised on planning matters relating to the

3rd phase extension of the DIRFT in Northamptonshire

for an international rail freight interchange - a nationally

significant infrastructure project. NLP also co-ordinated the EIA for a major Urban Extension to Rugby on land adjoining the DIRFT III site.

WORKING WITH AN

EXPERIENCED TEAM

NLP’s EIA group, which includes AIEMA registered environmental practitioners, has representatives in each of NLP’s eight offices. The group is involved in the co-ordination of EIAs for a wide range of projects.

The group liaises regularly to enable members to keep fully up to date with the latest in best practice and legislation and to discuss and share project experiences.

Our focus on recognising the role of EIA in large planning projects, and ensuring every aspect meshes together, strengthens the prospects of securing planning

permission and ensures developments meet sustainable objectives.

With this expertise and experience at our disposal we are able to deliver an exemplary EIA service to our clients.

Woodford Aerodrome, Stockport

Client: Harrow Estates & Redrow Homes NLP co-ordinated the EIA and prepared a

socio-economic assessment in relation to a scheme for the redevelopment of Woodford

Aerodrome. The scheme involves the creation of 920 dwellings together with an extra care unit,

a public house, local shops, a primary school, business units and associated infrastructure including open space and recreation provision.
