Prelude

“The King of Love My Shepherd Is” Todd Baldosser

Opening Hymn “Take My Life”

Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee

Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise, let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour at thy feet its treasures store. Take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for thee,

ever, only, all for thee. Call to Worship

Leader: Darkness is gone. New Hope has arisen for each of us.

People: We are forgiven and blessed.

Leader: We are marked by God as disciples

People: God has entrusted us with God’s own message of hope.

Leader: Come, Spirit of God, and rest upon us.

People: Enable us to be people of hope and peace. Prayer of Invocation

All: Lord of Hope and Light, in the midst of darkness you offered light

to people who lived in fear. Today that light comes to us as we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. Open our hearts this day and remind us that you have marked us as people of hope and light. Prepare us to serve you by serving your world in the spirit of Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray, saying . . .

The Lord’s Prayer…Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Joys & Concerns Pastoral Prayer

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell, the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit; the One Holy Universal Christian Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Scripture Mark 1:4-11

Sermon “When you have Nothing to Confess” Rev. Mark Katrick

Prayer of Dedication

All: Thank you, God of Love, for the promise of this season. We are

grateful for the generosity aroused in us by Christ’s coming into the world. May these gifts represent a new spirit of joyous sharing among us, for the sake of all your children everywhere. Amen.

Closing Hymn “Trust and Obey”

When we walk with the Lord in the light of his word, What a glory he sheds on our way!

While we do his good will, he abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet, Or we’ll walk by his side in the way;

What he says we will do, where he sends we will go; Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
