Arizona and UCLA have played an even series in recent history. The largest margin of victory in the last ten meetings has been 11 points. The average margin of victory in those last ten meetings has been 9.3 points with that number dropping to 5.1 points in the last six games between the two programs.
LAST 100 gAMES
The Wildcats will bring into Thursday’s game a record of 90-10 in its last 100 games since the start of the 2013-14 season. Of those ten losses, six have come in the regular season.
VERSUS UCLA AND THE REST OF THE PAC-12
Arizona will look to pick up a win against one of its historically toughest conference rivals in the Bruins. The Wildcats, under Sean Miller, are 8-7 (.533) versus UCLA, which is UA’s lowest winning percentage against any Pac-12 foe since Miller’s arrival prior to the 2009-10 season.

THREE IN A ROW ON THE ROAD
The 2015-16 schedule has the Wildcats on the road for the first three games of Pac-12 play. Arizona has not opened conference play with a trio of road games since the 1994-95 season, which saw the Wildcats begin Pac-12 play at Arizona State, California and Stanford.
EFFICIENCy BALANCE ACROSS THE ROSTER
Offensive efficiency has played its way out throughout the Arizona roster. Dusan Ristic (.582), Ryan Anderson (.541), Mark Tollefsen (.529) and Allonzo Trier (.526) all ranked in the top 15 of the conference in field goal percentage entering Thursday. The quartet of Wildcats make UA the only program in the Pac-12 to have more than two players in the top 15 in field goal percentage.
As of Tuesday, Arizona was the only school in the Pac-12, Bix XII, Big Ten, ACC and SEC conferences to have four players ranked in the top 15 of its conference in field goal percentage.
A BIg DRAW IN TUCSON AND ABROAD
Arizona Basketball is a hot ticket item not only in the McKale Center, where they average 14,409 fans per game, but also away from Tucson. UA has already faced a sold out (6,000) crowd at The Kennel at Gonzaga. Official attendance in Tempe for Sunday’s rivalry game was 8,044, which was 56 percent larger than ASU’s average crowd of 5,153 going into the game. The average attendance at Pac-12 schools increased in every game Arizona played at, including four increases of more than 50 percent a season ago. The Wildcats were the biggest draw of the season for seven of the nine Pac-12 teams it played on the road last season.
ALLONzO TRIER AND THE FRESHMAN 20-POINT MARK
Freshman Allonzo Trier opened Pac-12 play with 20 points in the victory at Arizona State, which gave the guard back-to-back games of 20+ points after scoring 20 versus Long Beach State in UA’s non-conference finale. Trier became the first UA freshman to score 20 or more points in consecutive games since Derrick Williams in the 2009-10 season.
Trier has recorded four games of 20+ points in 14 appearances for the Wildcats this season. Here is where he ranks among other notable Arizona freshmen in the last two decades.

Senior Kaleb Tarczewski is also 8 points from the 1,000-point mark in his career. He would become the 50th player in UA history to surpass 1,000 career points and the fifth Wildcat to achieve the feat under Coach Sean Miller.
After only appearing in 15 games as a true freshman in the 2012-13 season, fellow senior Gabe York has 93 career victories in an Arizona uniform entering the UCLA game.
WILDCATS CONTINUE TO BUILD ON RANKINgS STREAK
The Wildcats have been ranked in 68-consecutive AP polls and 71-straight coaches polls. Since the start of the 2012-13 season, Arizona has spent 55 weeks ranked in the top 10 of the AP poll during that span. UA took over the No. 1 ranking in the AP poll on Dec. 9, 2013, marking its first top ranking since 2003 and the first time a Pac-12 team had garnered the top spot since 2006.
The Wildcats held the top spot for a program-record eight straight weeks. Arizona was one of just 11 programs in the nation to appear in all 20 Associated Press polls in 2012-13, and one of just eight programs nationally to do so in 2013-14. UA was the only program in the nation to be ranked in the top 10 in every AP poll in the 2013-14 and the 2014-15 seasons.
gABE yORK FOR THREE

SEAN MILLER: USA BASKETBALL CO-COACH OF THE yEAR
After each led USA teams to perfect, 7-0 records and impressive, gold medal performances at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championships for Men and Women, USA Basketball U19 head coaches Sean Miller (University of Arizona) and Dawn Staley (University of South Carolina) were named co-recipients of the 2015 USA Basketball National Coach of the Year Award.
In addition to their performances in 2015, both coaches have suited up for USA Basketball as players, including a gold medal for Miller at the 1991 World University Games.
“Sean Miller and Dawn Staley were tremendous leaders for USA Basketball this past summer at the FIBA U19 World Championships,” said Jim Tooley, USA Basketball CEO/Executive Director. “We are grateful for their commitment and appreciative of the sacrifices they made in order to lead these teams to gold medals. Sean led a young USA U19 team to incredible performances throughout the tournament, especially defensively, and the team’s quality of character was obvious in its thrilling, overtime win in the gold medal game.”
Led by Miller, the 2015 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team won its seven games by an average of 25.3 points per contest at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship from June 27-July 5 in Crete, Greece. The gold medal finish was the USA men’s third in the past four U19 World Championships.
“To be named as a 2015 USA Basketball Co-National Coach of the Year is a great honor,” Miller said. “It is the culmination of the efforts of coaches and players working together for one purpose – a gold medal. A special thank you to USA Basketball for making all we did first class in every way possible.”
UA AgAIN AMONg ADjUSTED DEFENSIVE EFFICIENCy LEADERS
Bolstered by a defensive effort that ranked fourth nationally in field goal percentage defensive and sixth in scoring defense, UA ranked first nationally in adjusted defense two seasons ago. The Wildcats ranked third nationally in that department in 2014-15, allowing less points per 100 possessions less than last season’s nation-leading average.
Arizona’s harassment of opposing ballhandlers was one of the catalysts for its high-level defensive efficiency in 2014-15, and it continues thus far in 2015-16

The Arizona Basketball program picked up a commitment from a future Wildcat during the early signing period this fall. UA signed Finnish forward Lauri Markkanen to a national letter of intent. The 7-foot forward will join the team as part of the freshmen class of the 2016-17 season.
Markkanen represented his country in both the FIBA U16 and U18 European Championships. He led all players in the 2015 U18 European Championships in scoring at 18.2 points game while also grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game. His play this past summer in Greece was highlighted by his 27-point, 10-rebound performance in Finland’s win over the Ukraine. Lauri Markkanen is the son of Pekka Markkanen who lettered in basketball at Kansas University before playing professionally in Finland and on Finland’s national team.
DEFENDINg THE gLASS
Arizona finished the 2014-15 first in the nation in defensive rebounding percentage, securing 77.5 percent of available defensive rebounds. Defending the glass is something Arizona has done better than any other team over the course of the past three seasons. According to KenPom.com data, UA is the only program in the nation to rank in the top 15 in the NCAA in defensive rebounding percentage in each of the past seasons. The Wildcats are continuing their dominance on the glass in the early part of 2015-16 as well.
Season Def. Reb. Pct. National Rank
2015-16 79.7% 1st 2014-15 77.5% 1st 2013-14 72.7% 13th 2012-13 73.3% T-7th
@APLAyERSPROgRAM TO THE NBA
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (23rd overall pick, traded to Brooklyn) and Stanley Johnson (8th overall pick by Detroit) were both selected in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. The duo represented numerous NBA milestones for Arizona Basketball. • 21 Arizona players have been selected in the first round of the NBA Draft
• 12 of Wildcats’ last 14 first round selections have been lottery picks. • The program, in the Sean Miller era, has produced seven NBA Draft picks.
• Arizona is one of just five programs in the nation to have three top-10 NBA Draft picks since 2011. • 40 Wildcats have been selected in the NBA Draft since 1988, third most in the nation.
• Arizona Basketball has produced two first-round picks in the same year on three separate occasions.
POINT gUARD PLAy
Arizona point guards Kadeem Allen and Parker Jackson-Cartwright have combined to record103 assists to just 45 turnovers. Allen (2.2) and Jackson-Cartwright (2.8) both rank in the top five of the Pac-12 Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio individually.
ARIzONA PLAyERS ARE A MODEL OF NBA SUCCESS
UA players have been far from content by just hearing their names called on draft night, however. As has been reported by various media outlets, the fraternity of Arizona’s NBA players has exceeded the collective $1 billion mark in career earnings in 2014. Collectively, the Wildcat players who have been drafted since 1988 are an accomplished group, having won 14 NBA championships and made six All-Star appearances.
The group also boasts a Rookie of the Year (Damon Stoudamire), a Sixth Man of the Year (Jason Terry) and a Most Improved Player (Gilbert Arenas), a NBA Finals MVP (Andre Iguodala) and a NBA All-Star Coach (Steve Kerr).
There have been at least eight former Wildcats in the NBA in each of the last 16 seasons.
ARIzONA IN THE LAST FIVE SEASONS
While Sean Miller and Co. arrived in Tucson for the 2009-10 season, the 2010-11 campaign effectively marks the beginning of the Miller Era. Five years ago, the Wildcats claimed their first conference championship under Miller and made a run to the Elite Eight that only ended at the hands of eventual national champion Connecticut.
While UA has led the nation in wins in the last two seasons, the last four seasons of Arizona hoops have been among the best in the nation as well.

gOLDEN STATE WILDCATS: NBA CHAMPIONS
The Golden State Warriors are off to a historic start to the NBA season after claiming the 2014-15 NBA championship. There are numerous Arizona ties on the Warriors’ championship and record-breaking roster. Three coaches and the Finals MVP are all Arizona alumni.
• Head coach Steve Kerr (at Arizona 1984-88) • Finals MVP Andre Iguodala (at Arizona 2003-04)
• Assistant coach/Interim Head Coach Luke Walton (at Arizona 2000-03) • Player Development coach Bruce Fraser (at Arizona 1985-87)

Head coach Sean Miller and the Arizona men’s basketball staff saw their continued efforts to build a successful future for A Player’s Program come to fruition once again with the signin of the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class.
chance comanche
center // 6-10 // 205 // beverly hills, calif. (beverly hills)
» Ranked as the No. 97 overall recruit and the No. 16 center in his class by ESPN
» An all-state honoree by both MaxPreps and Cal-Hi Sports as a junior in 2013-14
» Named 2014 Los Angeles City Section Division V Player of the Year
Miller on Comanche:“Chance has a bright future. When he gets bigger and stronger, the sky is the limit because he already has a great feel and skill level. As somebody who can make shots, score around the basket and run the court, we love where he’s going to be down the road.”
Justin simon
guard // 6-5 // 185 // temecula, calif. (brewster academy)
» Ranked as the No. 27 overall recruit and No. 2 player from California in his class by ESPN
» Named an honorable mention Junior All-American by MaxPreps in 2014
» A first-team Division II all-state and all-state underclass honoree by Cal-Hi Sports in 2014
Miller on Simon: “Justin is the ultimate versatile player in that he can play, and defend, as many as three positions. His disposition and length give him a chance to be a special defensive player. He’s an exceptional passer who has a great feel for making his teammates better, and he fits our style of play in a number of different areas.”
ray smith
forward // 6-6 // 180 // las vegas, nev. (las vegas)
» Rated as the No. 24 overall recruit and No. 5 small forward in his class by ESPN
» A 2014 honorable mention MaxPreps Junior All-American » Garnered first-team all-state honors and shared Northeast League MVP honors as a junior
Miller on Smith: “Ray was hit with a setback when he tore his ACL in July. If there’s a gift to that happening, it’s when it happened. He has a great chance to be 100 percent by the time school begins for him as a freshman at Arizona. Ray is a terrific athlete who can really get up and down the floor. He has the size you want as a small forward and he can really pass, shoot and dribble.”
allonzo trier
guard // 6-5 // 190 // seattle, Wash. (findlay prep)
» Ranked as the No. 17 prospect and No. 3 shooting guard in his class by ESPN
» Teamed with UA head coach Sean Miller and current freshman Stanley Johnson to help lead the U.S. to a gold medal at the 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship » A MaxPreps Junior All-American and the Gatorade Maryland Player of the Year as a junior in 2013-14
Miller on Trier: “I know Allonzo well, having been one of his coaches last summer with USA Basketball. He has a natural way of scoring that’s striking as a coach. He gets to the foul line as well as anyone I’ve seen at his age, and he has a physicality to his game that makes him incredibly efficient. He’s a very good passer and can play more than one position. He has a bright future ahead of him.”
