Dear IBS colleague

When: Tuesday 27 January Location: 2.023

Topic: Employability skills and your curriculum / module

Host: Mr Jos Beelen, Senior Policy Advisor International Centre Registration: Please register before Sunday 25 January via [email protected]. Programme

9.00 - 9.15 Walk in

9.15 - 9.30 Welcome by Management Team 9.30 - 10.30 Round one

10.30 - 11.00 Coffee break 11.00 - 12.30 Round two 12.30 13.30 Lunch Description

The discussion will consist of two rounds. After an introduction, the first round focusses on current trends in international higher education. We will zoom in on one of them: the shift from input to outcomes. This means that internationalisation is now less concerned with activities than with the outcomes of those activities. In other words: we focus less on international content and teaching and more on the outcomes of internationalised student learning.

After a break, in round two we will look at the current discussion on internationalisation and employability by exploring a number of recent employability studies, such the Erasmus Impact Study (2014), the study by CIMO (Finland, 2014) and a survey of alumni of the IBMS programme at AUAS.

We will then discuss different perspectives on employability skills and will try to capture them in learning outcomes by ‘unpacking’ them further. Finally we will discuss what this means for assessment and for teaching.
