Abstract. This paper deals with the development of an adaptive speed controller for autonomous mobile robot using a fuzzy logic controller.The analysis of performance between a system applying triangular member- ship and a system using gaussian membership is compared to distinguish their differences. The results have shown that the gaussian membership method has improved the tracking performance for the mobile robot to reach its target. This also suggest the same behavior even when a dif- ferent mobile robot movements is assigned. This paper considers three, five and seven memberships for both techniques to determine their ef- fectiveness and effects to the system performance. The investigation has leads to the conclusion that the gaussian membership has competently surpassed the triangular membership performances even when the robot has different movements to achieve its target.

In [6], a nonlinear controller is described for a SPMSM using the IOF linearization. In this control scheme, an integral control method is introduced to improve the motor drive robustness against the inaccurate speed measurement. However, in this system the variations of other motor parameters are not considered. In [7,8] adaptive IOF linearization techniques are described for the speed control of the PMSM. Although according to these methods a good performance can be obtained, the controller designs are quite complex. In addition, according to these controllers, the drive system is not robust to all parameter uncertainties. In [9], a nonlinear adaptive speed controller approach is presented for SPMSM based on adaptive backstepping. In this control scheme, only the uncertainties in the stator resistance and friction coefficient and load torque disturbance are considered.

Abstract —In this paper the simulink model for speed control of switch reluctance motor is carried out using different speed controllers. The simulink model is designed for PI and Fuzzy logic controller separately and their result is compared. The speed controllers applied here are based on conventional PI controller and other one is Adaptive Neuro based Fuzzy logic controller. The PI controller is a special case of the PID controller in which the derivative of the error is not used. Fuzzy logic controller is an intelligent controller which uses fuzzy logic to process the input. In Industrial control FLC has various applications, Particularly where conventional control design techniques are difficult to apply. The ANFIS has theadvantages of expert knowledge of the fuzzy inference systemand the learning capability of neural networks. This controllerrealizes a good dynamic behavior of the motor, a perfect speedtracking with no overshoot and a good rejection of impact loadsdisturbance. The results of applying the adaptive neuro-fuzzycontroller to a SRM give better performance and highrobustness than those obtained by the application of aconventional controller (PI). In this present work, a Cuk converter is designed with adaptive neuro based fuzzy PID controller is used to tune the PID controller parameters for speed control of BLDC motor. Ziegler- Nicholas tuning formula is used for tuning and gain predication of adaptive neuro fuzzy controller. Genetic algorithm is a strong optimization technique based on natural selection by considering the different parameters such as rise time settling time and overshoot of the response. Simulation results are obtained from different conventional controllers as well fuzzy-PID controller are compared with the adaptive neuro fuzzy PID controllers.

ABSTRCT: This paper proposes single neuron based controller with adaptation law and conventional PI controller for the Permanent Magnet Brushless Direct Current (PMBLDC) motor drives. The controllers control the motor speed as output variable but inherently it adjusts all the required variables to achieve the field-orientation aspect. It is difficult to handle the dynamics of the motor by using conventional PI controller due to changes in motor ratings and characteristics and tuning is necessary to achieve desired performance. In order to overcome this problem, the more versatile single neuron based adaptive controller is proposed and developed. The PI controller is designed and tuned by Ziegler-Nichols method. The performance of drive system is studied for starting condition, speed variation, sudden load torque change and by changing parameters of the motor in C++ simulation. The simulation results are compared between the single neuron based adaptive controller and traditional PI Controller.

Due to the robustness of Sliding Mode Control (SMC), especially against parameters variations and external disturbances, and its ability in controlling linear and nonlinear systems. This thesis deals with the Adaptive PID with sliding mode control adjustment of a speed control for DC motor. Firstly, the thesis introduces the principle of sliding mode control method. Then, design SMC controller for DC motor after that design Adaptive PID with SMC controller then the performance of dc motor with adaptive PID with SMC is compared with SMC and PID controllers is made on the real model of the DC motor. After obtaining the entire model of speed control system, Performance of these controllers has been verified through simulation results using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The simulation results shows that Adaptive PID with SMC controller was a superior controller than SMC and PID controllers for speed control of a separately excited DC motor. The performance of DC motor with these controllers, clearly observe Settling time, Rise time and Overshoot. Adaptiv*e PID SMC controller gives best results considering above three conditions and also this controller is very robust controller. That is irrespective of any disturbances Adaptive PID SMC produce the same output.

A learning unit estimates the backlash space for switching between controllers. A fast state feedback regulator for the region of contact and an overdamped one for the backlash region are proposed. ANFIS is trained based on the previously simulated PI controller data’s. PI controller tuning is difficult and it requires an experts to tune and it have slow response. But ANFIS have the advantage of both Fuzzy logic and Artificial Neural Network . BLDC motor rotor part is having permanent magnet and stator part having three phase winding. So it has less inertia and friction. But the speed control is difficult due to the absence of field winding. The Brushless DC motors have many advantages like better mechanical characteristics, high efficiency, high dynamic response, small size and easy construction [9].
