Abstract. The development of methods for rapid flood map- ping and risk assessment is a key step to increase the use- fulness of flood early warning systems and is crucial for effective emergency response and flood impact mitigation. Currently, flood early warning systems rarely include real- time components to assess potential impacts generated by forecasted flood events. To overcome this limitation, this study describes the benchmarking of an operational proce- dure for rapid flood risk assessment based on predictions issued by the European Flood Awareness System (EFAS). Daily streamflow forecasts produced for major European river networks are translated into event-based flood haz- ard maps using a large map catalogue derived from high- resolution hydrodynamic simulations. Flood hazard maps are then combined with exposure and vulnerability information, and the impacts of the forecasted flood events are evaluated in terms of flood-prone areas, economic damage and affected population, infrastructures and cities.
Being true to the minimalist approach of this documentation, this procedure does not require auditors to use formal checklists. There should be no problem, as long as the auditors can demonstrate that they prepare for the audit, and that they keep notes during the course of the audit.
An operationalprocedure for adapting score-level fusion functions based on quality measures for multimodal biometrics has been presented and evaluated on publicly available real bimodal biometric data. Using a novel experimental protocol that mitigates some of the problems commonly encountered in other works (e.g., data scarcity, lack of understanding of the correlation effects within and between biometric traits) based on a worst case scenario, bootstrap error estimation, and multi-modal versus multi-probe comparative experiments, the benefits of exploiting quality information have been revealed.

The creation of a common technical architecture for the storage of sensitive data in order to prevent, detect and pursue irregularities against Community customs (and agricultural) regulations and non harmonised customs regulations, was entrusted to OLAF in January 2000 57 . In order to overcome the lack of resources, OLAF obtained, provisionally, the detachment of three national experts, to implement the system (for strategic fraud analysis and expertise production) and to prepare an operationalprocedure manual for the system (CIS, Customs Information System). Concerning Mutual assistance in customs matters, the recent entry into force of the mutual assistance agreements on customs matters, whose negotiations fall now under the competence of OLAF, brings up to 37 the number of non-member countries with whom OLAF and the customs authorities of the Member States exchange information, either spontaneously or on request, in order to prevent, detect and pursue irregularities in the customs field. During the second half of 2001, OLAF will strive to conclude new agreements. They represent an important instrument for co-operation with non-member countries.

Equally important, the current research has set a fundamental basis of an availability-oriented contract management framework/model as new knowledge towards improving naval ship operational availability. The study is a pivotal step in enabling a Severity Index (SI) to be produced in future research to assist navies to compare indexes of various types of contracts implemented globally on naval ship maintenance.
The strength of the study resided in (1) the paired design of dose measurements per- formed during the same sequence of manual 18 F-FDG drawing (which proved a crucial element in light of the heterogeneity of the absolute and specific radioactivity parame- ters between different repeated measurements (Table 1)); (2) the use of operational EDs with higher sensitivity than that of passive TLDs; (3) the real-time reading of radiation doses; and (4) the highest total of paired measurements (271) ever published in the hitherto available literature on this topic.

Because most bio-potential signals are characterized by their relative weak amplitude and low frequency, usually of few mV or less and the frequency in the range of less than 1 kHz ,. Biopotential signals are distorted due to Noise produced at the interface between skin and electrode of the Biosensor . So, before forwarding these biosignals, further amplification and filtering is needed to minimize noise and amplify bio-potential signals only , .
Three data classes (operational, non-operational and event messages) can be generated from the different electrical devices used in a substation. Operational and non-operational data is usually collected from all the devices using a data concentrator which converts the data through different communication protocols and forwards the information to the SCADA. For our experiments we used the Eaton’s SMP SG4250 data concentrator which supports a variety of communication protocols . An event is triggered when a binary input status changes from 0 to 1 or vice versa. In order to detect the occurrence of such events, a “wrapper” is used between the data concentrator and the CEP engine input. It creates event instances with necessary attributes (such as time stamp) and makes them ready for processing.
From this chapter we can conclude that there are six main problem areas that have an influence on the structure of the administration. First of all the norms of the service (product) are not operational nor well defined, so there is not a clear standard for which an employee should strive. Second there are missing or incomplete procedures in multiple processes. Responsibilities of different functions are not clear which leads to double work. Knowledge of the management system and computers are low, which leads to rework and missing chances of automation. Also the work attitude of several employees is a bottleneck, because they are neglecting tasks or stretching their tasks. Last is the chaotic transfer in information between different steps in the processes. Every problem mentioned in chapter four falls more or less within one of these categories.
Hatch was engaged by a local coal miner to quantify the impact of various berth and port design options and operational rules on the capacity and operability of the port as a whole. The results of the study illustrated the importance of using dynamic simulation models to accurately define capacity, realistically increase throughput, and proactively translate objectives into design and operating requirements. This required a fundamental understanding and consideration of the drivers that impact capacity, cost, and value across the entire transportation chain. The study showed that port congestion was not a strong constraint to port performance and improvements aimed at relieving port congestion did not improve performance significantly. This allowed the client to focus on improvements to reduce the time spent at the berths in order to deliver a direct positive impact on the export capacity.
Performance assured BSoD can be efficiently deployed and maintained when consistent instrumentation is applied from initial deployment through monitoring and troubleshooting. Standards commonly employed in Ethernet service deployment and maintenance are used, including Ethernet Service OAM (IEEE 802.3ah), Layer 3 TWAMP monitoring (RFC-5357), and RFC-2544 turn-up testing. Operational procedures show how to validate each critical service parameter at each stage, and how to interpret the results in the context of troubleshooting and maintaining optimal service quality and to meet SLAs, complying with the service lifecycle and service definition requirements formalized in Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) specified Carrier Ethernet standards and guidelines.
StreamStep is three years old and self-funded by three owners who have histories in venture IT startups. It has been a year and half since the launch of SmartRelease, a service for managing the release process, which is built on Ruby on Rails. SmartRelease is designed to be a lightweight Agile/DevOps solution. It takes existing deployment scripts and wraps them into an automated process, using prompts for approvals at key steps and keeping with compliance demands. Customers to date are enterprises with Agile development for which the pressure is highest on operations. StreamStep has close integration with Rally Software for Agile development and BMC on the operations and ITSM side. SaaS- and subscription-based offerings are in the pipeline. The solution is dependent on external build tools, and the topology features are tied into a third-party solution (BMC); overall, the offering performs well in the Ovum DevOps Rainbow. Future product plans include linking operational incidents to defect reports and coordination of defect root-cause analysis between development and operations.
