The Essential Guide to Payroll Outsourcing

The Essential Guide to Payroll Outsourcing

Outsourcing is increasingly a component of a company’s HR Transformation strategy, be it tactical or strategic. As the number of success stories and lessons learned increases, stakeholder resistance to outsourcing is decreasing. One by one the traditional barriers to payroll outsourcing are being eliminated, as suppliers are offering more flexible solutions including pay-as-you-go options, pre-configured platforms and better integration with other HR modules. Solutions exist today for smaller, dispersed organisations, where previously this had prevented many global companies from fully embracing payroll outsourcing. For this reason we expect payroll outsourcing to grow in the coming years through an increase in the number of companies engaging in outsourcing, increasing use of outsourcing in the public sector and growth in the scope of payroll services being outsourced.

These instances certainly do not represent all privately owned payroll companies, most of which are reputable organizations that maintain a high level of integrity and customer focus. How does the price compare to comparable providers? Some providers will process your payroll for next to nothing but in return you must use their agency for employee benefits. Beware of providers who are not full service. They often only offer self-service cloud payroll with no option for customer support. Have you reviewed the rates and everything that is included with that quoted rate? How long does the quoted rate stand? Typically the discounts will expire anywhere from 3 months to 1 year. What additional fees will catch you by surprise down the line?

value-added resellers (more than 300 employees). It has introduced its own payroll outsourcing offering to compete more evenly with ADP and Ceridian for customers that want that option. The company does not offer a hosted HR/benefits solution. Sage compared favorably in terms of functionality, only lagging significantly in talent management applications. An e-recruitment application is expected in mid-2006. The addition of self-service functionality filled a major hole in the product line. Sage has a large midmarket HRMS installed base, diverse product lines outside of HRMS and a financially strong parent company. Sage Abra HRMS may not be appropriate for some larger midmarket customers because the current client/server architecture may not meet scalability requirements. Sage Abra Workforce Connections was built on a .NET platform. The rest of the product suite will be making the transition to .NET during the next two years.

The Senior Payroll Administrator produces a letter to be sent to the cost centre manager advising them that the staff member has joined a superannuation scheme and that deductions are going to be made from a specific account. They are advised the rate of subsidy but not given any dollar figure. A copy of this letter is then added to the hardcopy personal file that the Senior Payroll Administrator administers for each superannuation member (which is created the moment they join a scheme). This file is kept separate from the central Human Resources personnel filing system.

Companies may lose visibility and control

Companies may lose visibility and control

There have been shifts in corporate needs and stra- tegic direction in the payroll space in recent years. The topic of payroll centralisation is not new, but re- cently Citi has seen a surge in the number of MNCs seeking to execute this model regionally or globally, many through payroll and HR transformation proj- ects. The decision to centralise is often reviewed in parallel with whether payroll and associated pro- cesses should be outsourced or kept in-house, and to what extent. Organisations are exploring other best practices, including a payroll factory approach, hybrid models and requests for collaboration be- tween payroll providers and banks.

THE PHENOMENON OF OUTSOURCING: REVIEW OF LITERATURE

THE PHENOMENON OF OUTSOURCING: REVIEW OF LITERATURE

From the time of Industrial Revolution, organizations have struggled with how they can utilize their competitive advantage to increase their market share. The main emphasis at the 20th century was a large integrated organization that can “own, manage, and directly control” its business process. By spreading, organization expected to protect profits, even though expansion required a longer hierarchical level. As a result, organizations attempting to compete globally in the 1970s and 1980s were handicapped by a lack of alertness that resulted from overstuffed management structures. So many large organizations developed a new strategy of focusing on their core business, to increase their flexibility and creativity, which required identifying critical processes and deciding which could be outsourced. The term "outsourcing" became popular in the United States near the turn of the 21st century. As compare to outsourcing of manufacturing, outsourcing of services is a relatively new trend. The 1980s was the beginning of services outsourcing to India and accelerated rapidly in the 1990s. Over the past decades, the concept of Outsourcing has become an important concept in the study of researchers, scholars and industrialists etc. So, the present researchers have made an effort with this review paper for those researchers, analysts and industrialists who are connected with Outsourcing (whether internal outsourcing, external outsourcing, knowledge outsourcing, or any other area related to Outsourcing). Every research projects requires the review of concerned literature to the purpose of determining the smooth contours for determining the right direction for doing the research.

7. You can also select if this deduction is a pre-tax item. Marking a deduction as a pre-tax item will adjust the employee’s taxable gross when running payroll, i.e. an employee has a salary of $10,000 and contributes 10% of her gross salary to her 401k plan. In Salon Iris you would set up your deduction as shown in Figure 13 below. When Salon Iris calculates this deduction it will take (Gross Pay) X (Percentage Amount). In this example it would be ($10,000) X (0.10) = $1,000. Thus, the employee’s gross income is $10,000, but her taxable gross income now becomes $10,000 - $1,000 = $9,000. Subsequent deductions, such as State, Federal, Local, Social Security, etc., will be calculated using the employee’s taxable gross which, as stated earlier in this example, would be $9,000. A pre-tax item MUST be based on gross pay and cannot have a pre-deduction amount associated with it.

Moderating Impact of IT Outsourcing Arrangements in a Muslim Country

Moderating Impact of IT Outsourcing Arrangements in a Muslim Country

In spite of numerous research on IT outsourcing there is a gross shortage of research investigating IT outsourcing arrangements (Lee et al., 2004) and its impact on interaction towards IT outsourcing success. This is evident particularly in Malaysian context, largely in Muslim world. Interestingly, Malaysia’s private sector and government agencies are seeing a rising trend in engaging IT outsourcing relationships involving significant amount of deals. Malaysia can expect to attract at least RM11.4 billion of the global outsourcing business that is projected to be worth RM1.9 trillion by 2008, briefs Price Waterhouse Coopers, a consultancy firm (Cheong, 2003). Hence, more empirical research is definitely needed in order to further understand IT outsourcing practices in Malaysian setting.

Nederlandse norm. NEN-ISO (en) Guidance on outsourcing (ISO 37500:2014,IDT) Richtlijn bij outsourcing (ISO 37500:2014,IDT)

Organizations are complex systems, continually adapting to changes in their environment (see Figure 1). They face many forms of pressure including those from ever-changing markets, political, social, economic and technological factors. In order to survive, organizations need to constantly update their strategy and realign to meet the demands from these complex challenges. They are in a state of constant flux, adapting to the external changes and requirements. This may involve outsourcing arrangements. This International Standard reflects the need to stay continuously aligned with the business and sourcing strategy, building in the capability for change from the start of the outsourcing life cycle. This is done not only by providing guidance in innovation, transformation and change, but also by providing a joint outsourcing governance framework.
