Design and Performance analysis of a LPDA in VHF range for observing Solar Radio Bursts

Design and Performance analysis of a LPDA in VHF range for observing Solar Radio Bursts

For recording solar radio signals, the instruments we used are Log Periodic Dipole Array at Kalyani (22.98°N, 88.46°E) in the Department of Physics, University of Kalyani, in West Bengal including a Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO) GDS-1000 Series. The LPDA, we used, can receive solar signals in the frequency range from 50 MHz to 300 MHz. The DSO is connected to a computer containing signal analysis software, which digitalizes the constantly varying solar radio signal voltages, creates a data set out of it and stores the data set in the form of CSV (comma separated values) file in the computer.

A Relook on the Rayleigh scattering of Light from the Sunset Observations Viewing from Brahmaputra River

A Relook on the Rayleigh scattering of Light from the Sunset Observations Viewing from Brahmaputra River

On January 26, 2014 we, a team of research workers of West Bengal, India working in the University of Kalyani and two Engineering colleges made a joint venture and successfully collected photographs of Sunset viewing from Brahmaputra River by constantly observing with three powerful high resolution digital cameras operated at different angles with a view to re-examine the scattering property [1] and to go into further insight into this very fundamental field of optics. The data we achieved from the received photographs suggested some interesting problems besides the verification of the existing scattering principle. The results achieved from the photographic documentations besides the Rayleigh scattering [2] principle are reported in this paper.

Reconnaissance of Female Ipseity in Shashi Deshpande's "A Matter of Time"

Reconnaissance of Female Ipseity in Shashi Deshpande's "A Matter of Time"

Feminist theory is the extension of feminism into theoretical or philosophical fields. It encompasses work in a variety of disciplines, including anthropology, sociology, economics, women's studies, literary criticism, art history, psychoanalysis and philosophy. Feminist theory aims to understand gender inequality and focuses on gender politics, power relations, and sexuality. Themes explored in feminist theory include discrimination, stereotyping, objectification (especially sexual objectification), oppression, and patriarchy. In the field of literary criticism, Elaine Showalter describes the development of feminist theory as having three phases. The first she calls "feminist critique", in which the feminist reader examines the ideologies behind literary phenomena. The second Showalter calls "gynocriticism", in which the "woman is producer of textual meaning". The last phase she calls "gender theory", in which the "ideological inscription and the literary effects of the sex/gender system are explored". In A Matter of Time Shashi Deshpande vindicates feminism through three characters: Kalyani, Sumi and Aru. In A Matter of Time she puts in plain words that Kalyani represents feminism when she asks questions from Gopal that why does he want to leave her daughter? And the character of Sumi reveals the difficulties and hardships that she faces in Indian society- especially educated women. The character of Aru also validates the concept of feminism when she, at the end of the novel, tells to Gopal that she can manage. All three characters stand for their ipseity in a perfect manner in male dominated society.

RECEPTION OF JOVIAN RADIO SIGNALS IN A TROPICAL STATION

RECEPTION OF JOVIAN RADIO SIGNALS IN A TROPICAL STATION

calculations [1 – 4]. Jupiter can produce very strong radio bursts at decametric wavelengths from regions of temporary radio emissions in its magnetosphere [5]. This magnetosphere is so large that despite the distance between the Earth and Jupiter, it would appear in the sky as large as a full moon, if it were possible to look the whole magnetic field around Jupiter from Earth [6]. Our present work reports identification and characterization of Jovian signal at Kalyani (West Bengal) at a frequency of 20.1 MHz besides the listening of Jupiter songs by audio monitoring arrangement. The present study has special importance from the point of view of radio astronomical observations on Jupiter over a tropical station in India.

WIND-PROOF LOG PERIODIC DIPOLE ARRAY FOR CAPTURING SOLAR RADIO BURSTS

WIND-PROOF LOG PERIODIC DIPOLE ARRAY FOR CAPTURING SOLAR RADIO BURSTS

We have been designed and developed a wind-proof log periodic dipole array (LPDA) at Kalyani, West Bengal for recording solar bursts in the frequency range 50 to 300 MHz. From a consideration of design parameters, the paper elaborately discusses about the wide angle solar array spectrograph with an emphasis on basic positioning of two static antennas to form a uniform wide angle beam. Design details of the log periodic antennas as well as the artificial convex ground structures are presented with important specifications and the physical properties of the LPDA.

A study of Career Development needs of Moroccan University Students

A study of Career Development needs of Moroccan University Students

As observed by Eisner (2010) the relationship existing among employers, universities and students is complicated and depend on the level of engagement that the graduates show regarding the available opportunities to develop their career. Eisner (2010) asserts that universities can offer a path to employment by offering appropriate workplace skills, attitudes and knowledge that employer’s value. Presently, university students in Morocco face high competition from experienced workers , a low rate of employment, changing skill demands by corporates and progressively prevailing global labor force resulting in increased uncertain and challenging labor market. The realities of the current labor market underline the significance of career development stressed by educators and practitioners in establishing different attributes that university graduates should possess to meet the requirements of employers in the current workplace.
