6 problem gamblers appear to have a higher unemployment rate than the UK national average, although this would need to be confirmed by a larger sample of respondents. Where an individual was a problem gambler with no support systems in place, they often feared having an income above subsistence level. This was because of the opportunity this provided of access to disposable income and credit to fund gambling activity. Participants in paid employment had greater access to bank accounts and credit and thereby the potential means to continue gambling activity. Also, when in employment, rent and council tax (or at least a proportion of these costs) became the responsibility of the individual rather than the benefits system. This meant that the individual needed to take on a new responsibility for managing their finances, which they were unable to do within the context of the gambling problem.
The survey opened on the 26 th October 2008 and was closed on the 7 th May 2009. A number of communication channels were utilised to expedite data collection. The survey was posted via the Gamcare user discussion forum and the Money Advice Trust website. Additionally, a Manchester City Council drop-in debt advice service agreed to undertake face-to-face survey completion with clients. No financial inducements or incentives were used to encourage a higher response rate. Only those that had experienced gambling and/or debt problems were invited to apply. Those who reported no such problems through the survey responses were screened out.

Within the Prison Pathfinder six different institutions took part. Teaching staff were largely drawn from FE college-based providers working in partnership with individual governors and their staff. As the prisons were widely dispersed geographically this tended to restrict opportunities for staff to meet and the challenge of sharing learning across sites was considerably greater. In practice, high levels of local autonomy seems to have been agreed at an early stage: nevertheless periodic contact between the different institutions and with Offenders Learning and Skills Unit (OLSU) was an important feature in the design that facilitated exchanging ideas and developing common practices. Particular prison service characteristics undoubtedly complicate and constrain what can be achieved. If, for example, learners are moved to other institutions (or released/deported) at short notice, achieving good levels of learning and continuity inevitably becomes difficult, particularly as learning records have not to date been transferred between institutions.
The interviews are part of a pathfinder study being undertaken by Manchester Metropolitan University in partnership with the Salvation Army, Money Advice Trust and Gamcare. A gambling and debt survey has already been undertaken. Focus groups are scheduled for early 2009 with professionals in the area of gambling and debt. A final report of this study will be made publicly available in August 2009.
This paper presents a variant of the A-Star ( ) pathfinder for robot path planning called (pronounced A-r-Star)and demonstrates that the algorithm outperforms in a uniformly gridded sparse world and gives performance matching that of in a uniformly gridded cluttered world. This algorithm is simple to implement and understand. It alsohighlights the performance advantages of the algorithm and proves its properties experimentally and analytically (where appropriate). Some challenges affecting the performance of have been presented and some solutions to these challenges have been developed and implemented. The performance of has been compared to running on both uniform and multi-resolution grids of different world scenarios. Results show that on a sparse high-resolution uniform grid world ’s search speed scales well and it outperforms by an exponential factor.

1.3 Cycles 2 & 3
Cycles two and three of the Pathfinder 1 project covered further voice migrations at the remaining planned AXE10 sites (Ynysybwl, Treharris, Ferndale, Tonyrefail and Cearphilly) plus the initial System X sites of Penarth and Cardiff S. The two key aspects of these cycles was to begin to prove volume capabilities at the remaining AXE10 sites and identify any specific System X related problems by the early introduction in the programme of the two small System X sites. The post migration findings from these migrations have again vindicated the approach as being the correct one with a slow ramp up proving the appropriate course of action. A new network fault (relating to VPN calls) and some process issues were identified in the Cardiff S migration and the multi site and large volume migrations on the AXE10 sites proved the robustness and repeatability of the overall migration plans.

Although our approach can be customized for any symbolic execution system, we focus on Symbolic PathFinder (SPF) that works at the Java byte code level. As failures, we can con- sider the typical errors reported by SPF (e.g. assert violations, null-pointer exceptions, race violations or deadlocks) but also more general properties of interest, not necessarily related to low-level bugs present in the code (which presumably could be corrected before code release). For example, in Section VIII-A we describe the reliability analysis for a NASA software component that monitors for flight-rule violations during flight. The analyzed code has no software bugs, but we characterize as failure the paths that lead to mission abort due to flight-rule violations.
How does it work within the Pathfinder rules system?
Both players and GMs must put aside a lot of the preconceptions associated with roleplaying, particularly any sense of an adversarial relationship between them, while playing Ravenloft. Instead, think of yourselves as collaborating to jointly tell a Gothic horror tale. For that reason, trust and participation are vital. The players must trust the GM to be scrupulously fair (to the spirit of the story, if not to the roll of the dice), especially if they are going to be set against enemies far more powerful than they are, and to respond to the themes they want to explore and the directions they want their characters to go in. A player should feel the GM is likely to accept the player adding in extra details to a scene (traditionally the sole province of the GM) in order to develop their characters and improve the story. (Of course, the key word there is improve the story, not derail it: the GM is still within their rights to say no, but the players should still feel they have a reason for saying no that will be made apparent later, not just a lack a flexibility).
Stage two – is evaluating the second 18 months of the programme (April 2013 – September 2014) to understand the progress made by pathfinders as they roll out the new processes, and the experiences and outcomes of the second cohort of participating families. An assessment of both pathfinder and non- pathfinder areas’ readiness to meet the forthcoming Special Educational Needs (SEN) reforms and a review of the effectiveness of the pathfinder champions is also being undertaken.

where the external forces f produce the motion in the sensed coordinates o through the acting of the second-order differential operator ∆. In LPF the oper- ator also contains negative force gradients modeled as spring-like constants, the control laws, the actuation and the sensing conversion between physical coordi- nates and sensed coordinates. As it is shown in the next section this complex structure can be further described with the introduction of targeted parameters modeling the system. Those parameters may vary in time so that the equation has no longer constant coefficients: in principle, such behavior could be observ- able at very low frequency. Even in this case, there are theorems ensuring the existence and uniqueness of solutions, at least locally, for reasonable conditions often met in practice.
