Understanding globalisation through changes in the global economy from mainly an American and the Western standpoint based upon the idea of “…democracy, as the best way of organising political life and the free market, as an essential tool for wealth creation” (Nye 2006, p. 72), without involving the presence of complex relationships on a macro and microeconomic level, significantly leads to conflicts of interest (Goncalves, Alves, Frota, Xia, and Arcot 2014). Furthermore, the economy is not per se ideal for wealth and fruitful living, and it should provoke globalisation regarding education, morality, nation, future, history, capitalism, and common sense reason for living (Cazdyn and Szeman 2011) or even “cosmopolitan culture’’ (Niezen 2004). In a political sense, the correlation between the theory of neo-liberalism and the relationship to peace as the absolute ambiance of the development of a contemporary democratic society could be illustrated by analysing the neo-liberalism genesis: (1) responsibility of democratic governments towards their citizens; (2) democratic political systems based on interdependence and control; and (3) peaceful resolution of disputes in the internal political scene (Lucarelli 2002, pp. 11-14). This reversible political process, the connection between democracy and free trade, on the one hand, and peace on the other, projects the ideal and forms the essence of a liberal model. But, also, the existence of a reflex to “radical democracy’’ in the form of “post-ideological anarchical politics’’ (Curran 2007) or a reaction such as “political Islam’’ (Springborg 2009) cannot be underestimated.

CPU scheduling has significant contribution in efficient utilization of computer resources and increases the system performance by switching the CPU among the various processes. However, it also introduces some problems such as starvation, large average waiting time, turnaround time and its practical implementation. Many CPU scheduling algorithms are given to resolve these problems but they are lacked in some ways. Most of the given algorithms tried to resolve one problem but lead to others. To remove these problems, we introduce an approach that uses hybrid approach for CPU scheduling in cloud computing environment. The hybrid approach uses Minimum Completion Time of various jobs with Opportunistic load balancing approach on cloud servers. Then we compare the proposed method with the existing approaches in terms of three metrics - throughput, maximum finishing time and the total execution cost. From various experiments we show that our approach works better than existing methods in terms of above metrics.

The algorithm proposed in [13] aims to maximize revenue for SaaS users and also guaranteeing QoS requirements of SaaS users. The algorithm includes two sub algorithms at different levels; Interaction between the SaaS user and SaaS provider at the application layer and interaction between the SaaS provider and Cloud Resource Provider at the resource layer.

FAULT TOLERANT SCHEDULING STRATEGY FOR COMPUTATIONAL GRID ENVIRONMENT

Computational grids have the potential for solving large-scale scientific applications using heterogeneous and geographically distributed resources. In addition to the challenges of managing and scheduling these applications, reliability challenges arise because of the unreliable nature of grid infrastructure. Two major problems that are critical to the effective utilization of computational resources are efficient scheduling of jobs and providing fault tolerance in a reliable manner. This paper addresses these problems by combining the checkpoint replication based fault tolerance mechanism with Minimum Total Time to Release (MTTR) job scheduling algorithm. TTR includes the service time of the job, waiting time in the queue, transfer of input and output data to and from the resource. The MTTR algorithm minimizes the TTR by selecting a computational resource based on job requirements, job characteristics and hardware features of the resources. The fault tolerance mechanism used here sets the job checkpoints based on the resource failure rate. If resource failure occurs, the job is restarted from its last successful state using a checkpoint file from another grid resource. A critical aspect for an automatic recovery is the availability of checkpoint files. A strategy to increase the availability of checkpoints is replication. Replica Resource Selection Algorithm (RRSA) is proposed to provide Checkpoint Replication Service (CRS). Globus Tool Kit is used as the grid middleware to set up a grid environment and evaluate the performance of the proposed approach. The monitoring tools Ganglia and NWS (Network Weather Service) are used to gather hardware and network details respectively. The experimental results demonstrate that, the proposed approach effectively schedule the grid jobs with fault tolerant way thereby reduces TTR of the jobs submitted in the grid. Also, it increases the percentage of jobs completed within specified deadline and making the grid trustworthy.
