This project deals with the design & development of a theft control system for an automobile, which is being used to prevent or control the theft of a vehicle. The simulation of the circuit design and its implementation is done using PROTEUS software. This system is designed to improve vehicle security and accessibility. With the use of wireless technology vehicle owners are able to enter as well as protect their automobiles with more passive involvement. Ideally, this project could be made more convenient and secure with the use of satellite modems instead of cell phones as tracking device as the system may fail when there is no network coverage. This design can be made more enhanced in future to support camera, handset phone / hands free, mobile data LCD display, web based tracking software, also PC based stand alone software. In our project the security system is based on embedded control which provides security against theft. The GSM modem provides information to the user on his request. The owner can access the position of the vehicle at any instant. He sends a message in order to lock the vehicle. The GPS receiver on the kit will locate the latitude and longitude of the vehicleusing the satellite service. This is reliable and efficient system for providing security to the vehicles through GSM, GPS and serial communication. The maximum speed according to the standard is 20kbits/sec.

This project proposed work is an attempt to design develop a smart anti-theft system that uses GPS & GSM system to prevent theft & to determine the exact location of vehicle. Which would the cheapest source of vehicletracking & locking it would work as smart anti-theft system. GPS system track the current location of vehicle, there are two types of tracking use online tracking & offline tracking. The preventive measures like fuel lock engine, electric shock system & paint spray system are installed in the vehicle which is controlled using users or owner GSM mobile. The owner can lock or unlock her/his vehicle with the help of SMS.

This paper explains an embedded system, which is used to know the location of the vehicleusing the popular and readily available technologies like the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for mobile communication (GSM). The main feature of our design is that it proposed to use a development board, which will have GPS and GSM module not as a separated module but closely linked with a microcontroller as in Tanotis Gboard Pro GSM/GPRS SIM900 Development Board ATmega328 Microprocessor. The advantage of using that development board is that it will reduce the size of whole system and it will reduce the power loss in terms of heat through external wirings used for the connection of GPS and GSM module with the microcontroller. Along with that, it will also increase the durability of the entire system. The ATMega328 microcontroller will provide the interfacing to various hardware peripherals. To know the location of vehicle, the mobile user has to click on the Track location button in the android app. The message will be automatically sent to the SIM present in the GSM module present in the device. The system will respond by sending the coordinates (sensed by the GPS module) of the vehicle on the registered mobile user and these coordinates will be plotted on the map.

This project presents a vehicletracking system usingGPS-GSM technology that can be remotely monitored by a GSM phone. It is designed to track the position of a vehicle at any period of time. It comprises of a GPS receiver, a microcontroller and a GSM module. The combination of these technologies produces a tracking system. The GPS continuously takes input data from the satellite and stores the latitude and longitude values in a Ardunio microcontroller's buffer. This basically means that if a person has to track a vehicle, a message has to be sent to a GSM device, by which it gets activated. When theft is identified, the owner sends an SMS to the microcontroller and the microcontroller sends back a message containing the location of the vehicle in terms of latitude, longitude and time.

The above block diagram explains the working of the system which can be designed from this paper, A ARM processor LPC2148 is used here for automation and controlling other supporting devices like GPS, GSM, Accelerometer sensor compass sensor. Actually this gives the practical model of a vehicletracking system which can do routing, tracking of moving vehicles in large area. It consists of two sections, first which will be inbuilt in the car which is having GPS in it and as the car moves, the location of the car goes on changing continuously, the GPS finds the location in terms of two co- ordinates that are Longitude and latitude. These co- ordinates are communicated to another section by GSM modem, as shown in the block diagram Fig.3 and both the parts consist GSM for communication. This GSM is connected to the computer through RS232 which has internet connection. So that as soon as the co-ordinates are received, it can be located in the Google Earth. After getting the coordinate, the mobile vehicle will send it to the supervised center via SMS or GPRS service. The supervised center will receive the coordinate of the mobile vehicle then displays on the screen. The mother board on the mobile vehicle is equipped a GSM modem- GM862 and it is directed by a 32bits microcontroller ARM Cortex M3-LM3S2965. ABSTRACT: This paper presents a mechanism to make vehicle thefts almost impossible. GSM and GPS technologies are used for that purpose. The proposed system provides two levels of security, password protection for the vehicle and remote ignition cut-off mechanism. This system also provides provision for vehicletrackingusingGPS. GSM technology is used for intimating the owner. An alert message is sent to the owner if the wrong password is entered. Message is also sent when the ignition system of the vehicle is started. The owner can respond with an SMS to stop the engine. A buzzer is also activated to alert the nearby people or the security personnel if the right password is not entered after maximum number of trials.
