1 Connect the USB drive containing the key set and the configuration file (see Installing a Key Set on page 36) to the ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA host.
2 Turn on the appliance. The ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA software will detect the USB drive with the key set and start automatic installation.
When the key set installation is completed, the ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA daemons will start automatically.
3 If necessary, configure ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA (see Quick Reference on page 10).
Manual Key Set Installation
To install a key set on a ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA host manually, you will need a USB drive or a CD/DVD containing the proper key set (see Installing a Key Set on page 36). A special wizard will guide you through the installation and will also allow you to configure the main ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA parameters. To install the key set:
1 Turn on the appliance and wait for the ViPNet software to load.
2 When prompted to enter the user login, type user and press Enter.
3 When prompted to enter the user password, also type user and press Enter.
Upon successful logon, the ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA setup program will be started. Select one of the two modes of the setup program:
o 1 starts the command line interface. In this case you will make configurations by typing from the keyboard.
o 2 starts the interactive wizard. In this case you will make configurations by selecting the proper options with your keyboard.
Both modes offer the same set of steps for preconfiguring ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA. Further in this section, we describe your actions in the command line interface mode. If you are going to use the interactive wizard, undertake the similar steps.
4 Select the command line interface setup program operating mode by typing “1” and
pressing Enter.
5 When prompted to start key set installation (“Would you like to start installing keys or restoring configuration?”), type “y” and press Enter.
6 Select the key set installation mode (“Would you like installing keys from TFTP, USB or CD storage device?”):
o to select the installation from a USB drive, type “u” and press Enter.
o to select the installation from a CD, type “c” and press Enter.
7 When prompted to connect the drive with your key set (“Insert USB storage device (or CD disk) with DST or VBE file and press Enter”), connect the drive with the key set to the appliance and press Enter.
8 If there are several key sets on the drive, a list of available key sets will be displayed and you will be prompted to select the required one (“Choose file by number or press Enter for next page”). Type the required key set's number and press Enter.
9 When prompted to enter the host user password, type the coordinator's user password and press Enter. You will be notified about successful logon.
10 Specify parameters for each of the coordinator's network interfaces:
o When prompted to enable a network interface (“Activate interface ethN?”), type one of the following:
“y” to enable the interface.
“n” to disable the interface.
“x” to apply the configuration of the interface that was made for this interface in
the ViPNet Network Manager program (Network options tab) (see Configuring ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA in ViPNet Network Manager on page 32). This option is available in case that the ViPNet network administrator has made any configurations for the interface in ViPNet Network Manager.
Then press Enter.
o If you have selected to enable the interface (the “y” option), you will be prompted to
allow a DHCP server to assign network parameters to the interface (“Use dhcp on the interface ethN?”). Type “y” for the server to assign the parameters
dynamically or “n” to configure static settings later. Then press Enter.
Note: If you choose to configure network parameters for all interfaces later, then you will be prompted to optionally specify DNS and NTP server addresses in following steps (when setting the system time on the appliance).
11 Set the time zone and the system time of the appliance. You will be prompted to define your location:
o When prompted to select a country from the list (“Please select a country”), type the number of the country and press Enter.
o When prompted to select a time zone of the country (“Please select one of the following time zone regions”), type the required number and press Enter.
o The time zone will be defined according to the selected location and displayed on the screen. To accept the set location, type “1” (“Yes”). To define another location, type
“2” (“No”). Then press Enter.
o After you define the time zone, the current system time will be displayed on the screen.
To accept the displayed time, press Enter.
To change the system time, type the date and time in the format YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss, then press Enter.
12 Upon completing the setup process, you will be prompted to start the ViPNet Coordinator HW/VA command line interface (“Do you want to start the command shell now?”). To do this, type “y”. To cancel the operation, type “n”. Then press Enter.
13 If necessary, upon key set installation, you can configure the host (see Quick Reference
