(Correction for effect of nuclear power)

The corrections for the effects of nuclear power in the graph for the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan are based on the assumption that, provided that nuclear power plants were being operated at the planned capacity factor with no impact from long-term power plant shutdowns, CO2 emissions would decrease as a result of an increase in power generation by nuclear power plants and that the actual value of CO2 emission intensity would improve.

Assuming that nuclear power plants were operated at the planned capacity factor (84.1%) in fiscal 2005, CO2 emissions would decrease by 290 million t-CO2 to about 346 million t-CO2and CO2 emission intensity by 0.032 kWh-CO2/KwH to 0.393 kg-CO2/kWh.
