The communit y needs assessment and identification of the existing knowledge, altitude and practices in relation to MVCs i n Nyamgana District was very instrumental in designing a project proposal for survival of the most vulnerable children. The methods use d for obtaining the neede d information include d interviews, questionnaires an d focus group discussion.
The Jijeng e - Pamb a proposal includes set objectives with planned interventions that need to be monitored and evaluated overtime to assess whether the project succeeded to support most Vulnerable children to access their basic rights through strengthening the capacity of community members i n addressing key issues that affected children.
6.1. CONCLUSION .
The emergenc e o f MVC s i n urban area s i s a socia l an d developmenta l challeng e whic h requires Multisectora l commitment s i n term s o f politica l commitments , communit y responses an d dono r suppor t wher e possible . Loca l governmen t authority , civi l societ y organizations and international organization are suppose d t o participate full y i n supporting the initiatives facilitated by the community itself. Al l the MVC s intervention s taken should address th e rea l roo t cause s an d no t symptom s o f the proble m an d al l the stakeholder s should participate effectively and efficiently t o seek sustainable measures/solutions .
On othe r sid e o f the coi n th e rang e o f participatory approache s shoul d b e employe d in promoting awareness and strengthening capacit y of stakeholders an d community at large to adhere to the problem.
In advocatin g for access t o basic rights of the MVCs , resource s shoul d be mobilized fro m within the community and outside the community where possible.
Lastly, I conclude that for those wh o are attempting th e sam e project, le t us collaborat e and build partnershi p amon g ourselves s o that it can be easy to manage, tra p and track th e resources a s wel l a s t o avoi d duplicatio n of work/interventions. Thi s i s becaus e tw o o r more CSO ca n be serving one M VC whil e others ar e left without support.
6.2. RECOMMENDATIONS .
The proble m of MVCs i n Nyamagana District is alarming, so in order to curb it, the followin g are recommended.
• MVC s problem s should be tackled collectively bot h by community itself and other stakeholders.
• Al l developmental partners shoul d come together an d join hands an d efforts t o fight against the MVC s problem.
• Th e establishmen t o f MVC s communit y fund s t o suppor t MVC s a t ever y mtaa/village shoul d b e encourage d an d supporte d a s a paramoun t importan t t o carter fo r the problem facing children and make sure that no children is left away without support .
• Th e obtaine d finding s i n this stud y shoul d b e th e bas e fo r polic y maker s t o pu t emphasis o n the communit y participation at al l levels in fighting against MVC s malady.
• Th e Jijenge-pamba a s a CB O shoul d b e empowere d t o facilitat e communit y members to deal with MVCs problem s effectively and efficiently .
• Ever y member in the community is responsible to carter for MVCs problems . • Government , parent s an d guardia n shoul d pla y thei r role s an d responsibilities
making sure that children are safeguarded an d protected by any means. M V C shoul d be supported at their respective homes and not through centers . M V C shoul d be involved or participate to make the most choice of their rights as well as basic needs .
Community should be mobilized to initiate community funds an d fund raising events to support M V C .
The existin g community structure shoul d be strengthened t o meet M V C problems. Capacity building in income generating activities to resource poor households so that they can manage t o support MVC s a t their respective homes.
