COMBINED HONOURS

Final Awards:

Equal - BSc (Hons) Psychology and Subject X (ordered alphabetically) Minor - BA/BSc Subject X with Psychology

The following provides the structure for the Psychology curriculum associated with approved combinations. For curriculum details of the “other” approved subject, refer to the relevant subject Programme Specification (see Section 3b for details)

Options – the following structures provide a list of all option units approved for delivery as part of this Combined Honours subject. Whilst approved, these are not all necessarily available to students in a given year.

On successful completion of Level 5 – interim exit award: DipHE Psychology with Subject X Combined Honours (CH) students Majoring in Psychology must undertake the mandatory units:

Applied Social and Developmental Psychology, Cognitive and Neuropsychology, and Individual Differences. These 90 credits are core to provide eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the BPS and must be passed.

Students taking the CH route, who are not seeking BPS accreditation, may undertake any combination of Psychology units up to the credits required by the Combined Honours Framework (See Combined Honours Programme Specification). Typically, Combined Honours (CH) students majoring in Psychology are expected to undertake the core units, which confer eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered

Membership (GBC). Deviation from the ‘typical’ route must be agreed by the relevant Programme Leader(s).

Students, who are Equalling in Psychology are not eligible for BPS accreditation and hence may undertake any combination of psychology units up to the 60 credits required by the Combined Honours Scheme.

Combined Honours students taking Named Route must take the dissertation (mandatory unit) plus three options (elective units) (120 credits). Level 6 (Honours) candidates awarded a lower-second or higher classification for BSc (Hons) Psychology (with Combined Honours) will normally be eligible to apply for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society.
