Configuring a cluster using the SAN Volume Controller Console

Onceyou’vecreateda pairofnodes,youwillthenneedto createandconfigurea cluster.

If youarecreating aclusterusingtheSANVolumeController,you willneed to generate aSSHkeypairbeforeperformingthistask.IfyouareaddinganSSH public keytoenableyoursystem tousethecommand-lineinterface(CLI), youwill need tohave generatedanSSHkey pairforthissystem.

Perform thefollowing stepsto createa clusterontheSANVolumeController Console:

1. Createa clusterfromthefrontpaneloftheSANVolumeController.Atemporary passwordfor theadministratoruseisgeneratedbythenode.

2. Access theSANVolumeControllerConsoleusingaWebbrowser.

3. Signonwiththesuperusernameandpassword.For first-timeaccess,usethe superusernamesuperuser andthedefaultpasswordpassw0rd.Youmust changethis defaultpasswordthefirst timeyousignon.Afteryousignonwith thesuperusernameandpassword,theWelcomepanelisdisplayed.

4. Addanew clustertotheSANVolumeController.

5. CompletetheCreatingaClusterwizard:

a. Completethecreationof thecluster b. Set uptheerrornotificationsettings c. Setupthefeaturizationattributes d. Upload theSSHkey

6. Type theIPaddress oftheclusterandselecttheCreate(Initialize)Cluster checkbox. WhenyouclickOK,theCreatea Clusterwizardopens.

7. TheCreatingaClusterwizard presentspanelsto completethefollowingsteps:

a. Createnew clusterinformation,suchas:

v Thenewadminpassword v Theservicepassword v Thenameofthecluster v AserviceIPaddress

b. Set uptheerrorloggingattributes.

c. Setupthefeaturizationattributes.

d. Upload theSSHkey throughthewizard.

Oncethesestepsarecompleteandyouhaveexitedoutof thewizard, youcannow use theWebapplicationfor theSANVolumeControllerpasswords.

Perform thefollowing stepsto createa clusterusingtheCreatea Clusterwizard:

1. StarttheSANVolumeControllerConsolebyclickingonthedesktopicon orby pointingyourWebbrowsertohttp://<svcconsoleip>:9080/ica, where

<svcconsoleip>istheIPaddressof themasterconsole.

2. TheEnterNetworkPasswordwindowisdisplayed.Typesuperuser fortheuser IDandpassw0rdfor thepassword.Thefirsttime yousignonasthesuperuser, youmustchangethepasswordfor thesuperuser.Afteryouchangethe password,theWelcomepanelisdisplayed.

3. Ifthisisthefirsttimeyouhave accessedtheSANVolumeControllerConsole, goto step3a.Otherwise,gotostep 3b.

a. TheWelcomepanelisshownasinFigure26onpage 108.ClicktheAdd SANVolumeControllerClusterbutton.

b. SelectClustersfromtheportfolio.Fromthelistof tasks,selectAdd clusterandclickGo.

4. ClickCreatenewcluster.TheSANVolumeControllercreatesthenewcluster.

Whenthenewadministratorpassword isaccepted,theclusterdisplaysthe passwordpromptagain.

5. TypetheuserIDadminandthenew administratorpassword.

6. SelectAdda Clusterfromthemenu,thenclickGo. 7. EntertheIPaddressof yourcluster.

Iftheclusterhasnotbeenfullycreated(thatis,you havejustfollowedthe stepsinchapter5andcreatedtheclusterfromthefrontpanel),selectthe Create(Initialize)Clustercheckbox.

Iftheclusterisalreadyinuseandyou arejustaddingthis clustertothe clustersthatthisinstallationof theSANVolumeControllerConsoleis managing,donotselecttheCreate(Initialize)Clustercheckbox.Click OK.

8. Youwillbeprompted toacceptthenewcertificatefor thecluster.

9. Youwillbeprompted fortheclusterusernameandpassword.Theusername isadminandthepasswordistheonegenerated bytheprocess describedin thetopicabout Creatingaclusterfromthefrontpanel.Entertherandom passwordthatwasgenerated andclickOK.

10. TheCreatea Clusterwizardbegins, clickContinue.Iftheclusteralready existedandyoudidnotchecktheInitializeClustercheckbox instep7 on page108proceedtostep 14onpage113.

11. CompletetheCreateNewCluster stepbyenteringanewadministrator passwordandenteraservicepassword. Notethesepasswordsasyouwill needtheminthefuturetouploadnew SSHkeysviatheSANVolume ControllerConsole.
