10.0 FIELD INSTALLATION
10.1 Piping
10.1.01 System distribution piping will be routed and installed in accordance with the project specific drawings and/or instructions prepared by the Distributor as a part of the project documentation. 10.1.02 Cutting, bending, attachment of fittings and pipe cleaning will take place during field installation. 10.1.03 All such work shall be carried out in accordance with the instructions of the Marioff approved pipe
and fittings supplier.
10.1.04 Installers shall be trained and certified in installation procedures for their products, by the selected fitting supplier.
10.1.05 All piping, once cut to length and de-burred, shall be thoroughly cleaned internally prior to installation.
10.1.06 Cleaning shall be carried out to Standard NAS 1638, Class 9 or ISO 4406, Class 18/15.
10.1.07 All support brackets and clamps shall be welded or bolted securely and at spacing compliant with the Marioff recommendations.
10.1.08 It shall be ensured that all fittings are tightened in accordance with the fitting manufacturers’ instructions and all brackets/clamps are secure.
10.1.09 On completion of the field distribution network and installation of the sprinklers, a full pressure test shall be carried out, utilizing a proprietary pressure testing pump device.
10.1.10 Hydrostatic testing of the piping system is performed separately for each section. The sections shall be pressurized to 1.5 × working pressure without loss for a period of 30 minutes or as otherwise determined by the authority having jurisdiction.
10.1.11 In the event of leakage, the pressure shall be removed from the system, appropriate corrective action taken and the test procedure repeated.
10.1.12 Instruction signs for the section valves, as well as a general arrangement drawing of the section shall be fastened next to each valve.

10.2 Sprinklers
10.2.01 Verify that the strainer and seals are correctly positioned on the sprinkler.
10.2.02 Install the HI-FOG sprinklers by screwing them into mounting adapters. Tighten the sprinklers with the Marioff sprinkler wrench.
10.2.03 Special care must be practiced in the installation such that the efficient spray distribution of the sprinkler may not be disturbed by obstructions close to the sprinkler.
10.2.04 Width of obstruction/clearance is subject to case-by-case approval but – as a first guideline – the following installation rules should be taken into account (App 05).
10.2.04.1 The width of any obstruction directly below a sprinkler shall not be wider than 1.5 times its vertical distance to the sprinkler. This is to guarantee that only the center spray at most will be partially blocked, which represents less than 15 % loss of the full flow capacity of the sprinkler. 10.2.04.2 For a beam-like obstruction the maximum width is 0.5 times the vertical distance. This is to guarantee that only a small portion of the center spray and (max) two side sprays will be blocked.
10.2.04.3 A minimum of 0.5 m clearance shall be maintained between the sprinkler and the top of the obstruction.
10.2.04.4 In case of large horizontal obstructions, additional sprinklers should be located below the obstruction.
10.2.04.5 Sprinklers shall be positioned so that the minimum horizontal distance from a sprinkler to obstructions such as lighting fixtures and ventilation ducts is not less than 0.2 m, or twice the depth of the obstruction from the ceiling, whichever is larger.

10.3 Pump Unit
10.3.01 The pump unit should be unpacked and positioned according to the contract specific requirements. The pump unit and water supply as well as the cables supplying power to the unit shall be located outside the protected area.
10.3.02 Secure fitting of rack/skid/enclosure to wall or floor of the mounting location should be ensured. 10.3.03 The water field-tubing network is to be connected to the appropriately tagged SPU outlet port. 10.3.04 The water supply is to be connected to the appropriately tagged SPU inlet port.
10.3.05 Appropriate system operating instructions (Marioff supplied and contract specific) are to be mounted in a prominent position on the rack/skid or immediately adjacent.
10.3.06 A permanent plate (Distributor supplied) is to be permanently attached to the rack/skid/enclosure, recording details of the System Type, Serial No., Location of the design area(s), working pressure, required flow, and residual pressure demand at the base of riser.
10.3.07 As appropriate, any cabling (related to e.g. monitoring pressure switches) is to be connected to a suitable junction box (supplied by others) on the rack to facilitate field wiring connections. 10.3.08 Connections to the rack/skid mounted electrical interface points should be made.
10.3.09 All appropriate checks are to be carried out as required for the control and releasing devices. 10.3.10 On completion of all the above (including Sections 10.1 and 10.2), the system is installed.

11.0 COMMISSIONING
11.0.01 Perform all the weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual tests and checks listed in Section 12. 11.0.02 Subject to the requirements of the Client, the Client's insurers or the authority having jurisdiction,
a full water discharge test may form a part of the system commissioning procedure. The test can be conducted with only one sprinkler, as appropriate. Alternatively, a discharge test may be conducted by utilizing the flushing valve installed in each section or the test port arrangement in the section valve.
11.0.03 In the event of discharge test, the closest and the most remote HI-FOG sprinkler (in respect to the pump unit position) shall be removed from the system and examined for particles and/or debris collected on the sprinkler screen. Should either of the removed sprinklers show signs of dirt, all the sprinklers should be removed from the tested section and cleaned by the Marioff authorized distributor.
11.0.04 The pump unit flow capacity is to be verified against the project-specific pressure difference over a dedicated test orifice.
11.0.05 On completion of the commissioning procedure, ensure that records are established signifying verification of the following:- (An example of Marioff’s Commissioning Record Document is provided in App 06)
11.0.05.1 Distribution system securely installed in accordance with the project specific routing and sprinkler positioning requirements.
11.0.05.2 Sprinkler mounting adapters correctly selected and located for compliance with the project specific arrangement and the guidelines of this manual.
11.0.05.3 The pump unit securely installed and connected to the field distribution network. 11.0.05.4 Correct electrical interface for the control panel with appropriate tests.
11.0.05.5 Discharge test(s).
11.0.06 The Distributors’ commissioning certificate shall be correctly completed and a copy given to the Client. A record copy of the duly completed commissioning certificate shall be kept on file with Marioff’s Project Department.
