Transferred data from the Handy PEA may consist of many groups of data files of similar ID which are required to be saved on the PC independently of other files. However, there may be a need to perform comparisons between this and other groups of files that would normally require manipulation of several files.

Handy PEA software provides the ability to cut and paste files from a single worksheet into up to 20 individual worksheet files and then saved as a single project file. Groups of data are then saved in

separate worksheets and are readily available for direct comparison with other groups of data files within the same project.

Project files may consist of up to 20 individual worksheet files with up to 1000 data files per worksheet. The following diagrams are guidelines for the creation and saving of project files.

In the worksheet above, 10 data files have been recorded in the field using Oak leaves from 5 different trees as samples. 2 recordings from each tree have been performed using a 1 second flash of 75% intensity. In order to easily distinguish which tree the measurement was taken from, file identification numbers of TREE1 - TREE5 were given to the saved data files. All 10 files have been transferred into the Handy PEA software and saved along with a text description as a single worksheet file. These files may now be separated into individual worksheets according to the ID number of the file.

In the diagram above, 4 new worksheets have been created in order to hold the separate groups of data files. Creating a new worksheet is achieved by selecting the 'New Sheet' option from the Files menu. Highlight the data that is to be moved to a new sheet. This may be performed using either of 2 methods. Clicking the first required file in the group, holding down the 'Shift' key and then clicking the last

required file in the group. Highlighted files will display with a blue background.

The Select by ID dialogue is accessed from the 'Edit' menu and allows the user to perform a search on known ID strings contained in the current worksheet. Any files with the requested ID number will become highlighted with a blue background.

In the diagram above, all files with the file identification number TREE2 are to be moved into Sheet 2. The highlighted files are removed from the original worksheet by selecting the 'Cut' option from the Edit menu in order to move the data to a scratch pad.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 'CUT' AND 'COPY' OPTIONS FROM THE EDIT MENU MAY NOT BE USED TO EXPORT DATA FILES TO EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS. THE SCRATCH PAD USED IS AN INTEGRAL FEATURE OF THE HANDY PEA SOFTWARE ALLOWING FILES TO BE MOVED AROUND THIS PROGRAM ONLY. PLEASE FOLLOW THIS LINK FOR GUIDELINES

ON EXPORTING DATA TO EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS.

The data files removed from the original worksheet should now be imported into one of the new worksheets. Click on the sheet header tab marked Sheet 2 in order to bring a blank worksheet to the front. From the Edit menu, select the 'Paste' option to import the data from the scratch pad.

This 'Cut & Paste' method should now be used to transfer data groups TREE3 - TREE5 from the original worksheet into the remaining blank worksheets.

In the diagram above, all of the individual data groups have been imported into the blank worksheets. Each worksheet has been saved as an individual worksheet file. The filenames are displayed on the header tab of the corresponding worksheet in order to easily identify the groups of data files within the project. This is achieved by selecting the 'Save Sheet as File' option from the Files menu for each of the 5 worksheets. Each sheet has also been saved along with a brief text description of the data.

Sets of data files may also be copied to new or existing worksheets using a 'Drag & Drop' style method. Clicking and holding the left mouse button on required sets of highlighted files allow the user to drag the files to either:

an existing worksheet by dragging the files over the top of the required worksheet tab where the dragged files will be added to the last file in the worksheet.

a new worksheet by dragging the files to the blank space to the right of the last worksheet tab. A new worksheet will be created containing the dragged files.

Once the individual worksheet files have been saved, they may be saved together as a composite project file. This is achieved by selecting the 'Save Project' option from the Files menu. The project will be saved with a *.HPP file extension and may be re-opened at any time by selecting the 'Open Project' option from the Files menu.
