President Scholarship SECTION 1

A Club Scholarship will be awarded to the President of CVSON@CACC ANS.

SECTION 2

The scholarship is awarded only upon approval by the Scholarship Committee and is subject to change.

SECTION 3

The President must fulfill all duties as outlined in the CVSON@CACC ANS by laws in order to be awarded the scholarship and must be a member of the school of nursing Level 2 class.

SECTION 4

The scholarship is awarded for two (2) semesters and includes tuition and fees only. It does not include testing fees as may or may not be charged by the CVSON@CACC.

SECTION 5

The President must maintain full-time status and an overall grade point average of 2.0

BYLAWS

Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Alabama

ABBREVIATIONS

The following abbreviations when used in these Bylaws have the meaning indicated:

ASSOCIATION Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Alabama. BOARD Board of Directors composed of the State Officers and the presidents from each local chapter.

LPNAA-Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Alabama.

Article I –Name

The name of this association shall be Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Alabama.

Article II-Objectives and Purpose

The objectives of this Association shall be the development of practical nurse education and the promotion of the licensed practical nurse as a member of the health team, concerned with the health and welfare of all people; and, furthermore, the objectives of the Association shall be to promote and assure quality patient care in the State of Alabama. In furtherance of its objectives, the Association shall:

1. Initiate and foster research in practical nurse education and promote the philosophy of continuing education among licensed practical nurses and those who utilize their services;

2. Further recognition of practical nursing services, especially their substantial contribution to the local community;

3. Endeavor to increase the number of dedicated and well prepared licensed practical nurses;

4. Represent the interests of the licensed practical nurse on committees and agencies concerned with the delivery of health care services; and,

5. Promote the material welfare and interests of licensed practical nurses.

Article III-Membership and Dues Section 1.

Membership in this Association shall consist of the following classifications:

a. Active-All membership requirements met b. Student-Students in approved schools

c. Provisional-Graduates of approved schools of nursing, in the initial year immediately following graduation, awaiting licensure

d. Inactive Members-Individuals with an Alabama license, but either living outside the State or unemployed

e. Lifetime f. Honorary Section 2.

Any LPN who is a licensed RN shall not be eligible for membership in this organization.

Section 3.

Active members shall be assigned membership in an appropriate chapter of the

Association. Only active members in good standing of the Association shall be eligible to make motions, vote, or serve in any elected or appointed position.

Section 4.

Any student enrolled in a practical nurse school approved by the State Board of Nursing shall be eligible for membership. Student members shall have the privilege of attending meetings and speaking on pending questions. They shall neither have voting privileges, nor make motions and may not hold office.

Section 5.

Inactive membership may be granted to licensed practical nurses who either reside out of the State or are unemployed but who currently maintain Alabama state licensure and are not eligible for membership in another category.

Section 6.

Lifetime membership may be granted to individuals who are former active members of LPNAA, are no longer employed in healthcare, have both ten (10) years of active membership in the Association and ten (10) years of practice as a licensed practical nurse.

Section 7.

Honorary membership may be granted to individuals who have made significant contributions toward the advancement of licensed practical nurses. Honorary memberships will normally not be presented to previous or current members of the LPNAA.

Section 8.

The membership year shall be the anniversary date of dues paid by the individual member in the Association.

Section 9.

Each member of the Association shall pay annual dues. Dues for each category of membership shall be recommended by the Board and approved by the Association.

Such dues shall include a chapter portion as established. All dues shall be remitted to the Association office by the respective chapters or individual members within thirty (30) days following billing. The Association encourages each member to become a member of the National Association of Practical Nurse Education and Service, NAPNES. Every membership form from this Association shall give the individual member the options of membership.

Section 10.

The treasurer or Executive director shall notify members whose dues are delinquent.

Members whose dues remain unpaid thirty (30) days thereafter shall be dropped

automatically from membership in the Association. Members who membership has lapsed because of non-payment of dues, may be reinstated upon payment of current dues, may be reinstated upon payment of current dues plus a penalty as established by the Board. All penalties shall be remitted to the Association, unless otherwise approved by the Board.
