Data Mining-Emerging Tool For Market Analysis

This paper studies the data mining as new and emerging tool for Market Analysis. This reveals that Data Mining which is the process of extracting the various kinds of business information from the data warehouse helps in various functional area of market analysis i.e. Market basket analysis, customer profiling web-marketing etc.to gain the competitive advantage for the organization. It shows that Data mining tools perform market analysis by clearing the business data, enhancing customer knowledge, enhanced marketing strategies and increasing profits.

This paper reveals how to gain competitive edge and enhance business profitability and efficiency of business organization world wide are taking help of different data mining tool. Data mining fill the growing gap between large storage systems and powerful retrieval systems and ability to analyse the information obtained. It helped in to contribute research by providing association techniques, techniques for on-line discovery, ensemble learning and distributed data sets. Large number of marketing analysis techniques are related to sales forecasting which can be performed by the data mining tools.

It shows if tools are used by marketing manages effectively then it provides edge to then business.

Introduction

Data Mining is the technique of extracting meaningful information from large database i.e. Data warehouse. It is process of discovering useful information, possible unexpected patterns in data that are valid, novel, useful and understandable. It help in providing the enterprise with the intelligence which help the companies better companies better comprehend their customer.

Data mining process is gaining a lot of importance because of its vast applicability. It is being used increasingly in various business applications for understanding and the predicting valuable information like buying behaviours of the customer, selection of best profitable market to launch new products.

Data mining involves many different algorithm to accomplish different tasks which examine the data and determine a model that is closest to characteristics of data being examined data mining models can have their basic

components:-(a) Model-which define a model to fit for the data.

(b) Preference-which shows that what criteria we will use to fit one model over another.

(c) Search-which represent what technique we are using to search the data.

Mining-Data Ming architecture includes various processes which includes various feedbacks loops and reversing of earlier steps. Input is provided by some query from the data warehouse, transformation is applied and assimilated output is collected.

This architecture firstly extracts, transform and load the transaction data onto the data warehouse further it stores and manage the data in multidimensional database system using on line analytical processing which give the specific model for navigating the data warehouse. It gives the data access to business analyst as extracted knowledge and analyzed the data by using software and presents it in graphical form.

Market Analysis

Data Mining is emerging as a, new trend in the phase of Information Technology as a tool for knowledge Discovery. In this section we will discuss various operational area of the Market Analyses i.e. Market Basket Analysis, Analysing the customer, Web Marketing, Fraud detection etc. to provide the competitive data to the managers. Main functions in organization performed by the data mining tool according to the hierarchy of the organization from bottom to up.

(1) Improved and filtered data and removed unwanted figures.

It also helps in increase database of customer and appropriate knowledge about them. It has various applications to detect the fraud and improve risk management schemes. Patterns uncovered by the data mining technology help organizations make better and timelier decision.

Another issue covered that as large amount of data is available about the market, customer and competitors it is always challenge to develop privacy and security models and protocols appropriate for data mining to ensure the integrity and also set the rules for data mining tools to be develop in coming generation.
