In 2014, ANTAM focused its development priorities on the commencement of commercial operation of the Tayan Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA) plant, the construction of Pomalaa Ferronickel Plant Expansion project (P3FP), as well as continuing with the development of the East Halmahera Ferronickel project (FHT), the Mempawah Smelter Grade Alumina (SGA) project, and the Anode Slime project. mayoritas untuk dapat memperoleh Penyertaan Modal Pemerintah (PMN) dengan usulan dana Rp7 triliun. Keseluruhan dana ini akan dikombinasikan dengan rencana penerbitan Hak Memesan Efek Terlebih Dahulu (HMETD) atau rights issue dimana pendanaan yang diperoleh akan digunakan untuk mendanai proyek Feronikel Halmahera Timur (FHT), proyek Smelter Grade Alumina Mempawah serta proyek Anode Slime.
Sampai dengan akhir tahun 2014, pabrik CGA Tayan masih melanjutkan proses commissioning dengan ekspektasi operasi komersial pada awal tahun 2015. Untuk P3FP, EPC progress sudah mencapai 82,7%. Di tahun 2014, ANTAM melakukan commissioning fasilitas pelabuhan,
belt conveyor dan pemurnian pabrik untuk P3FP. Dengan
dimulainya commissioning fasilitas pelabuhan yang baru di Pomalaa, ANTAM berharap proses unloading bijih nikel untuk kebutuhan umpan pabrik akan berjalan lebih cepat dan efisien. Fasilitas belt conveyor sepanjang 4 kilometer yang dibangun bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan keselamatan kerja dengan menggantikan dump truck yang sebelumnya digunakan untuk sarana transportasi bijih nikel dan batubara dari pelabuhan ke pabrik. Selain itu, penggunaan
belt conveyor juga bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aspek
keselamatan kerja dalam hal pengangkutan bijih nikel dan batubara. Fasilitas belt conveyor merupakan paket-2 dari keseluruhan 8 paket P3FP. Fasilitas pemurnian pabrik yang merupakan bagian dari P3FP akan meningkatkan jumlah fasilitas pemurnian menjadi 2 unit dari sebelumnya 1 unit. Melalui penambahan fasilitas pemurnian ini, maka operasional pemurnian pabrik diharapkan menjadi lebih fleksibel seiring dengan peningkatan produksi feronikel. Fasilitas refining merupakan paket 3 dari keseluruhan 8 paket P3FP. Seiring dengan selesainya P3FP, ANTAM berharap tingkat produksi feronikel dapat meningkat menjadi 27.000- 30.000 TNi per tahun dari sebelumnya 18.000-20.000 TNi per tahun. Penyelesaian proyek ini juga akan menurunkan tingkat biaya tunai pabrik feronikel di Pomalaa. Sementara itu untuk proyek FHT dan proyek SGA Mempawah masih berfokus pada pencarian pendanaan dan diskusi dengan calon mitra strategis.
Untuk mendukung pendanaan proyek, di tahun 2014 ANTAM juga memperoleh fasilitas investasi dari Indonesia Eximbank senilai US$160 juta. Di sisi lain, ANTAM juga mengkaji proyek-proyek lain yang bersifat quick yield.

The funds, along with the proceeds from the planned Rights Issue, will be used to finance the development of the East Halmahera Ferronickel plant, the SGA Mempawah project, and the Anode Slime project.
As of the end of 2014, the Tayan CGA plant was still in the commissioning phase, with a planned date for commercial operation in early 2015. Meanwhile, EPC works at the P3FP has progressed to 82.7%, with the commissioning in 2014 of harbor facilities, belt conveyor and refining plant for P3FP, representing 3 packages of total 8 packages in the development of P3FP. The new harbor facilities at Pomalaa are expected to facilitate faster and more efficient loading of nickel ore for plant feedstock. The 4-kilometer belt conveyor facility is intended to replace the previous method of nickel ore and coal haulage by dump trucks from the harbor to the plant. The use of belt conveyor is also expected to result in improved work safety in the transportation of nickel ore and coal. The new refining plant will add another refining facility to the single existing refining facility, giving more flexibility to refining operations in line with increased ferronickel production. When the P3FP is completed, ANTAM will be able to increase ferronickel production to 27,000-30,000 TNi per annum, from the current production capacity of 18,000- 20,000 TNi per annum, while also reducing the cash cost of ferronickel production at the Pomalaa plant.
In regards the FHT and SGA Mempawah projects, ANTAM still focused on seeking funding and holding discussion with potential strategic partners. In support of project financing, ANTAM in 2014 has obtained an investment facility worth US$160 million from Indonesia Eximbank.
Proyek-proyek yang bersifat quick yield tersebut diantaranya proyek Anode Slime, proyek Blast Furnace dan Inisiatif Green Fine Agregat. Pada tahun 2014 ANTAM juga menandatangani Nota Kesepakatan (Memorandum
of Agreement, MoA) dengan Institut Teknologi Sepuluh
Nopember (ITS) terkait kerjasama pengembangan pengolahan bijih nikel melalui proses smelting furnace. Di tahun 2014, ANTAM juga menandatangani Nota Kesepahaman (Memorandum of Understanding, MoU) dengan FLSmidth terkait dengan penyediaan desain, pengujian dan jasa terkait pengembangan proyek pertambangan di wilayah Indonesia dan sekitarnya. Di tahun 2014 ANTAM juga memperoleh persetujuan atas permohonan pemberian fasilitas pajak penghasilan untuk P3FP. P3FP akan memperoleh savings sebesar kurang lebih Rp64,3 miliar per tahun selama 6 tahun. Fasilitas tax
allowance juga diperoleh PT ICA dan memberikan savings
sebesar kurang lebih Rp60,1 miliar per tahun selama 6 tahun. Untuk proyek FHT, adanya tax holiday diperkirakan dapat memberi penghematan senilai Rp6,7 triliun.
Dengan tantangan yang dihadapi, ANTAM tetap berkomitmen untuk mengakselerasi realisasi proyek pertumbuhan hilir (downstream) yang terintegrasi dalam rangka meningkatkan nilai tambah cadangan dan sumber daya yang dimiliki.
