5.6.1 Direction for Future Research

Based on the study findings and the need for continuous examination of economic development, given its evolving nature, future research should empirically measure key themes vis-à-vis development and competitiveness of municipalities. As well, the political landscape should be analyzed to gauge whether, and how, it influences the adoption of specific economic development strategies.
