D. Element Four: Modeling Best Professional Practices in Service

Professional education faculty provide service to the college or university, school, and broader communities in ways that are consistent with the institution and unit’s mission. Service has been a strong focus of the unit since the inception of the University. Faculty members provide

professional development to P-12 schools and the community, serve on committees and boards for the professional community, assist the Mississippi Department of Education and the

Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning with major initiatives, and regularly serve as

volunteers to the unit, university, and broader community. Chart 14 below provides a sample of service activities across the unit faculty. Other examples may be found in the documents room.
