Event Handler

When your VRT/VT/VX is triggered by some events such as alarm triggered, motion detection, video loss, disk full or system failure, you can be alerted through a powerful built-in function of VRT/VT/VX, Event Handler. You can also predefine some actions to deal with different event accordingly. Actions to be taken include recording, switch control, dial back and e-mail notification (in VX model, action includes buzzer as well)

1) Event

All the included events are shown here. The defined options are Alarm, Motion (VRT/VX only), Video loss, Disk Full (VRT/VX only) and System Failure (VRT/VX only).

2) Event Handler Settings

You can find the brief description of each individual event. You may click the description to access the settings page.

3) Reload

Click this button allows you to reload the settings from your VRT/VT/VX if you have made some changes to the settings but want to resume to its original settings.

Alarm Event Settings

You can find information about the alarm settings in the front page of Alarm Event Settings, such as number of sensor (No.), the names of the sensors (SensorName), the status whether it is Installed, AssociateCameras, and status of Recording, Switch,

Dialback and E-mail.

You can double click the individual row to enter its setting page.

Sensors Settings

You can modify the alarm sensors settings by clicking this button. Remember to click Apply or OK to save the changes. Please refer to the previous section about Alarm Settings.

Action to be taken

If you click the individual sensor, you can set the action for VRT/VT to take when it is triggered. Actions include recording, switch control, dial back and e-mail notification.

Recording ( VRT/VX only )

After the alarm sensor has been trigger, you can activate the recording either in type of Continuous or Frame Basis. Duration selections for continuous recording are 10sec, 20sec, 30sec, 1min, 5min, 10min, 30min, 45min and 60min. If you choose Frame Basis, then the number you set for recording will be the number of duration in seconds for recording as it is frame per second.

Note that in case all cameras are associated with its sensors (i.e. Camera 1 with Sensor 1, Camera 2 with sensor 2…etc), and the pre-defined recording duration is 1 minute continuously. There are two typical cases:

1) Sensor 2 is triggered to have recording while at the same time that camera is being recorded, as a result there will be an “overlapping” period that both Camera 1 and Camera 2 are recorded. Total time for these two events will equal to or less than 2 minutes, however, individually, there would be 1 minute of recording on Camera 1 and 1 minute of recording on Camera 2.

2) The same sensor is triggered while the associated camera video is being recorded due to the event trigger, the new 1-minute recording will be append to the end of the previous recording time, e.g. there is 30 seconds recording when the second event trigger, so totally there will be 1 minute and 30 seconds recording.

Switch

Switch control is another action VT/VRT/VX can take when event triggered. In this page, you can activate the switch control by checking the box Enable Switch Control and the individual switch check box. You can view the status of the switch settings such as the type of switch and its initial state. The type of switches can either be “Latching” or “Push”. It is advised to configure initial button setting before used. You can do so by clicking the Switches

Settings.

Note: this switch control setting will be set to VRT/VT/VX only but not affect the settings in the Reception Software.

Don’t forget to check individual camera

Dial Back

In this page, you can find the telephone numbers for dial back. You can modify them in the option of Dial Back Settings. When the alarm is triggered, VT/VRT/VX will attempt to dial to the telephone number in the first entry to acknowledge the user. If it fails to inform, it will try the second entry, and third and so on.

Location name of VT/VRT

Phone number or IP address

Four entries for IP address or phone number or direct to COM dial back

Duration time between two attempts

Counter for cyclic retry from 1 time to 10 times or infinite, infinite = keep trying until dial back successfully,

Dialing tone selection

E-mail

You can enable the function that VRT/VT/VX send you an acknowledge email when alarm sensors are triggered. The first page you see only show you the information and the status of enable or disable. You should enter to its settings page to modify the settings.

Please enter a valid SMTP Server IP or address that VRT/VT is connecting to

All the recipients will receive the notify email

You can verify the function by requesting the VRT/VT to send a testing email.

Note: So as to avoid the flooding of email sending to inform the recipients about the event triggered, VRT/VT/VX bears a 15-minute boundary. Once the event triggered happens, all the defined recipients will receive an acknowledge email. In case that event happens within 15 minutes after the previous event, no duplicate email will be sent to those recipients. However, if the current event happens 15 minutes after the previous event, then notify email will be sent again.

Motion Event Settings (VRT/VX only)

VRT/VX allows you to enable video recording when motion is detected. Maximum 16 cameras are able for motion driven recording. In the front page shown below, you can find the information such as number of camera installed, the names of the cameras, the status whether it is installed and whether Motion Detection is applied to it, the degree of the Sensitivity it uses to detect and status of Recording, Switch, Dial

back and E-mail..

Cameras Settings

You can modify the cameras settings by clicking this button. After you have clicked OK, the selected camera(s) will be installed.

Motion Settings

You can modify the settings for motion detection by clicking this button. After you have clicked OK, the selected camera(s) will be installed.

Enable Cameras

When you see the following page, you can select the camera(s) to have this recording by checking the camera number in “Enabled Cameras”. A fast button “Enable All” and

Disable All” is for convenient usage.

Select Blocks

S” refers to “Select” while “D” refers to “Deselect”. For selecting the detect region, you should first click “S”, then use your mouse to drag on the image. You can select the blocks anywhere on the image. The selected blocks will become red for notification. You can also click “Select All” to activate all the blocks on the image to take effect. “Clear All” allows you to clear all the selected blocks and re-select the blocks again.

You can immediately see the change in the selected block when motion triggered.

The cross blocks show motion detection occurred.

Deselect Blocks

You can click “D” to “Deselect” the selected blocks. You should use your mouse to drag on the selected blocks. The selected for cancelling the motion detection will be in green color.

Or you can click “ClearAll” to cancell all the motion detection.

Individual Camera Sensitivity & Recording Duration

There are three preset levels, Low, Medium and High, of sensitivity for convenient use.

Light Sensitivity is a threshold to determines when the block is “changed”. The higher it was set, the more sensitive to the change. Area indicates in how many percentage of the motion in the block triggered will be considered as a “change”. When the percentage is low, that means, a bit change to the image block will be considered as a trigger. In other words, when the Area is set to be high percentage, a small change in the image block will not be considered as a motion trigger.

The user can also define his/her perference value for Light Sensitivity and Area percentage by choosing Custom

Deselected blocks

Recording Duration

It is the length of time for recording after motion detected. It varies from 30sec, 1 min, 5 min to 10 min.

Action to be taken

The actions available for motion detection are as same as Alarm Trigger. Actions include recording, switch control, dial back and e-mail notification. Please refer to the previous pages for details.
