EXAMPLE CHART OF SUN IN THE 10TH HOUSE

In document Money (Page 102-105)

Demonstrating a 10th house Sun, musician Jim Morrison became a legend in his own time. Recreational drugs that led up to heroin, years of alcohol abuse, addictions, decadence and outrageous behavior were all overlooked by his adoring fans as only part of his mystique. He was the founding member of The Doors, one of the top rock groups of the '60s, exemplar of that brief magical period when the world's youth wore colorful clothes and long hair and the sweet smell of marijuana drifted across the parks and "love-ins." Morrison played his Scorpio MC to the hilt, dressing in skin tight black leather and projecting blatant sexuality; his music beat with the pulse of the rock generation, Light My Fire and Riders on the Storm.

At the same time his 2nd house co-ruler Jupiter screamed "excess!" with its close square to the MC; its trine to Mercury allowed him liberty without an apparent price during his peak superstar prestige. In March, 1971, weary and disillusioned, beset by legal problems and years of substance abuse, he moved to Paris to regroup. He died there of a heart attack July 3,1971, after snorting heroin.

Virgo on the MC. When we have Virgo on the MC, we are adaptable to career variations that allow us to develop a useful expertise. To achieve our maximum success, we are helpful and humane with a witty down-to-earth approach.

Unpretentious, we perfect our talents with practice and experience. We fail to succeed when we are critical complainers and use others unfairly. We are mental or physical hypochondriacs with eating disorders and multiple health problems.

We vacillate, moving from job to job as none seems to meet our standards.

Our career fields are often in intellectual and communication fields, sometimes in transportation areas. We may work in healing or dietary careers. All fields are represented with the common denominator of skills that are perfected through work to a fine degree of excellence. Highly flexible, we seek variety in life's experience and most of us change jobs or careers several times. Even if there is one career, there is an avocational interest or second career in the wings, such as pursued by Hiidegard Neff, an actress and a writer, Ken Uston, a stockbroker and a gambler and Shirley Temple Black, an actress and a diplomat.

Others among us have multiple abilities; some of the most brilliant minds and talents in history are shown with the Virgo MC. Leonardo da Vinci, Benjamin Disraeli, Friedrich Nietzsche and Raphael show the epitome of human development in craftsmanship. Sports champions also exemplify the presence of a second career as the average sports figure has a limited peak period.

Some health and physical abnormalities are evident, such as Henri Toulouse-Lautrec with stunted legs, and the

phenomenal George Lippert who was born with three legs. Chanteuse Edith Piaf had a stunning history of alcohol, drugs, hepatic comas, jaundice, ulcers and seven operations, and martial arts expert Bruce Lee died of a massive brain

hemorrhage. Heavy drug and alcohol abusers include Elvis Presley. Internally or externally, problem solving takes priority in our lives.

A Virgo MC shows an impetus to do something useful and worthwhile in life, to make some viable contribution through service to others that makes a difference, either in the world as a whole or simply in our private reality. There are periods when work dries up or is dull, perhaps for years at a stretch. A physically and emotionally healthy lifestyle helps us to avoid (or resolve) problems. To evaluate the capacity of success of a Virgo MC, consider all planets in the 10th house, the sign where Mercury is posited and the aspects of both the MC and its ruler, Mercury. With a Virgo MC and Mercury posited or conjunct, we strive for career variety and mobility, such as shown by the multiple talents of Mickey Rooney, or we are noted for perfecting our field, as did composer George Gershwin.

Dr. Timothy Leary began his academic vocation doing graduate work at Berkeley in psychology where he helped devise early group therapy techniques, illustrating the Virgo intellectual qualities as well as those of the MC ruler, Mercury in Scorpio. The ruler of the 2nd house of livelihood is Saturn in the 9th house of higher education, conjunct the MC. He became a professor at Harvard University, a prestigious and honorable position, until he was fired for experimenting with hallucinogenic drugs, which may be illustrated by Mercury sesquisquare (trail-blazing) its dispositor, Pluto.

Though Neptune, ruling drugs, has a trine to the ASC, Pluto is more indicative of the psychedelic experience, that of being the microcosm within the macrocosm, of being one cell within the body of the whole, and Pluto not only has the close aspect to Mercury, (ruler of the MC) but it is in a one-degree quincunx to Leary's ASC.

Uranus stands out (in Pisces) conjunct the Moon (in rebellious Aquarius) square Venus and Mercury and trine the Sun to exemplify the slogan that Leary coined, "Turn on, tune in and drop out." Verbalizing Mercury (12th house in Scorpio), he touched the core of the underground subculture of his day to become the archetypal spokesman of the flower-children.

The 12th house also pointed to his 29 arrests for drug possession and to his exile in Europe when he escaped from a federal work camp in 1970. He was later paroled. Leary's books and lectures further explore the heights and depths of a Scorpio 12th house with the philosophical voice of a Sagittarius ASC.

Mercury in the 10th house follows Gemini on the MC.

Libra on the MC. Those of us with Libra on the MC express social and intellectual initiative in a career that allows us to have comfortable interaction with others. To achieve our maximum success, we are pleasant, agreeable and helpful.

Interested and caring, we treat others as equals. We deal with the public to improve social conditions in a manner that is just and fair. As we appeal to the public tastes, we are highly popular. We fail to succeed when we are lazy with our only effort being that of avoiding work. We seduce others with our charm but, lacking true ethics, are superficial and two-faced.

We are pleasure-seeking dilettantes who take the path of least resistance.

Our career fields are those that appeal to the public tastes and social mores of our time. We are not loners; even those of us who tend to be shy or reclusive mingle socially and in public places, and our job or career puts us into people-oriented situations. Those of us who are socially noteworthy have a high level of visibility with a Libra MC, such as presidential brother Billy Carter, who was more noted for being a beer-drinking good-ol'-boy than for running a peanut plantation, and Marion Davies, publicized as the mistress of William Randolph Hearst rather than for her capable business acumen and philanthropy.

The partner, family, or social position plays a large role in our lives, as portrayed by evangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, world known for her marriage to Jim Bakker as well as for her trowel of cosmetics. Those of us who are noted for more

substance often express a social consciousness, as demonstrated by the feminist works of Betty Friedan, the fables of Hans Christian Anderson and the philosophical works of Herman Hesse and Alan Watts. Cosmopolitan editor Helen Gurley Brown appropriately wrote Sex and the Single Girl. Sociopathic cult leader Jim Jones, with Libra on the MC had sufficient charisma to lead a thousand people to their death.

Generally, we are delightful companions personally or in the workplace, more noted for popularity in our profession than for depth unless other factors add additional dynamics. Always remember to evaluate the total MC/10th house, as illustrated by actor Charles Bronson with his Libra MC and two planets in Scorpio in the 10th house. He gained great popularity in roles where he dealt out justice (Libra) with a vengeance (Scorpio). Actor Alan Alda and dancer Fred Astaire are two examples of the extent of devotion that a Libra MC inspires in fans.

We demonstrate a strong requirement to respond and mix with others. We are noteworthy in social positions or in social causes. To evaluate the capacity of success of a Libra MC, consider all planets in the 10th house, the sign where Venus is posited and the aspects made by both the MC and its ruler, Venus. With a Libra MC and Venus posited or conjunct, we are noted for our social position or our artistry, both of which are illustrated by Viscount Linley Armstrong-Jones, or we may be known for a light and delightful popularity, as actress Goldie Hawn.
