There are a lot of sources online wherein you can get this guidance. Some are great, some are okay, and some just don’t make any sense. So to answer this question, I will just recommend my top 3 resources. I believe that these experts are the best out there, but I strongly insist that you still make your own evaluation.
Top 1: Bo Sanchez’ Truly Rich Club
Bo Sanchez is the author of the best-selling book: My Maid Invests in the Stock Market. Bo Sanchez actually taught his maids and drivers how to invest in the stock market. The latest news that I read was that his maid already had P100, 000+ in her portfolio. (Yes, he’s that good in teaching the stock market.) Bo’s motto was that if he could teach his maids how to invest in the stock market, he could teach it to anyone! So, when he already mastered making the stock market simple and easy, he launched the Truly Rich Club.
The Truly Rich Club is an online membership group that teaches its members how to be Truly Rich in all areas of life: relationships, career, spirituality, health, and of course finances. As a member, you get e-books, recordings of live seminars, wealth strategies, and many others. But of all the things that you get when you join, my favorite benefit is the StocksUpdate.
The Stocks Update is a 5-7 page article which contains stock recommendations and the reasons why that company is being recommended. The best part is that it answers the four most important questions you’ll have as a stock market investor:
What company should I buy?
At what price should I buy it?
When should I sell it?
The following picture shows a snippet of the StocksUpdate. In just one look, you’ll be provided with the answers to the 3 questions above:
Question Answer
(column) Explanation
What Company? Stock The AP, BPI, CEB... are the stock codes identifying a particular company. AP is Aboitiz Power, BPI is the bank, and CEB is Cebu
Question Answer
(column) Explanation
What Price? Buy Below
Price This is the price where you’re supposed to buy that particular stock. This is considered the cheap price for that company. If the current market price goes near the buy below price, then that’s the time you stop buying.
When to Sell? Target
Price This is the target selling price. So for AP, when the price reaches P37.06 or higher, that’s the time to sell it.
This stocks update is the April 25, 2012 issue. The recommended stocks, its buy below prices and target prices may have changed at the time you’re reading this.
Finally, the last and most important question to be asked by an investor is:
Why?
In the StocksUpdate, the “why” is answered by providing you updates on those recommended companies. Here is a sample explanation on why BPI was recommended.

The Catch: Membership to the Truly Rich Club is not free. I am currently paying P497 per month (roughly P17/day) to get these benefits. There are also other membership options which have different prices and benefits. The details however, need not be discussed here.
Caution: The information that you can get from the Stocks Update are so useful to the point that you could depend on it for the rest of your investing life. This can tempt you fully relying on only the Stocks Update for your stock market decisions. When this complacency sets in, the desire to become a better investor may run out. I sincerely hope that you don’t end your journey as an investor with the Truly Rich Club, but instead use it as a stepping stone towards becoming an even more intelligent investor.

Top 2: CitisecOnline’s Easy Investment Program
CitisecOnline, also known as COL Financial, is the largest online brokerage in the country. They are also the most dedicated when it comes to teaching Filipino’s how to invest in the stock market. I find their weekly free seminars on the stock market to be a true testament on their commitment to help Filipinos have their financial success through investing.
One of their programs that make investing very simple and understandable is the Easy Investment Program. In this program, they recommend companies which they believe are GEMSS.
G – Growing Industry
E – Earnings Visibility and Predictability M – Management Credibility
S - Superior Products and Services S – Strong Balance Sheet
As of July 2012, they have already recommended 16 companies which they have found to satisfy the GEMSS criteria. The EIP recommends that you select 3-5 of these companies in different industries, and do the peso-cost averaging strategy on your choice of companies. Following this list is also rewarding.
The Catch: None. This list is usually given if you have an account with CitisecOnline, or if you attend one of their free seminars. From time to time, someone on the internet will post this list.
Caution: Since this list readily accessible, it would be very tempting to jump into the program right away. Again, practice your own due diligence and read about the companies you are about to invest in. I also recommend that you register and attend one of their EIP Seminars. This seminar is
conducted every week, now scheduled at 3-4:30pm. If it is in conflict with your work schedule, take a half day leave. Your financial future is much, much more important.
Top 3: Gus Cosio
Gus Cosio is a consultant in one of the Philippines’ leading investment houses. He has worked with global investment firms since the 1980s (that’s 30 plus years of know-how!) and has extensive experience in the region’s financial markets.
The reason why he is on this list is that he shares his expert opinion online. In his blog, Gus Cosio Says So, you can review his thoughts of the past market. At the same time, Gus Cosio also posts his thoughts on his Facebook account. His account is public so you can read his posts regardless if you add him as a friend or not. And from time to time, he answers questions posted to him by other investors.
The Catch: You’ll have to catch up with the stock market jargon. His posts are a little bit harder to understand, especially if you are still a beginner. From time to time, you’ll encounter stock market acronyms, economic indicators and other companies which you’ve never heard of before. The good thing about this is you learn the lingo. When I’m reading something written by Gus Cosio, I also have Google ready for searching definitions.
Caution: When reading his posts, please understand that the information you’re being provided is often limited. For example, if he posts that he just bought a stock at a particular price – you are often not provided with the rest of his plan for that stock. You are not provided on what prices he plans to sell it. You are also not provided with how long he plans on keeping that stock. It would be best to still make your own evaluation of the recommendations.
Basic Stock Market Terms: What does _____ mean?
In this section, I’ll quickly provide the meaning of basic stock market terms. You’ll encounter them as soon as you create your account with an online broker. While you’re still deciding on how you’ll get into the stock market, the information here is not really important. However, when you do decide to get started with an online broker, you’ll have to understand these terms.
