SmartBoard 6.00 Feature Summary
SmartBoard 6.00 document mastering software provides extensive job setup and submission capabilities. It operates in tandem with industry standard Adobe Acrobat 9.0 (Professional or Standard) software to provide a robust solution for complex production printing workflows. This section provides a summary of the features available in the SmartBoard 6.00 software.
Compatibility
Kodak SmartBoard 6.00 document mastering software is compatible with Adobe®
Acrobat® 9.0 Professional or Standard.
For systems with Acrobat 9.0, SmartBoard 6.00 software operates with:
0 Windows XP Professional (service pack 2).
0 Windows 7 (32-bit edition)
0 Windows 2003 (service pack 1).
0 Windows Vista (32 bit edition).
SmartBoard is compatible with print production software, version 7.01 or greater.
SmartBoard is compatible with the Kodak NexPress front end (S Series), system 9.0 or greater as well as the Kodak M700 digital color press front end (M Series), system 9.0 or greater.
SmartBoard 6.00 software can be installed on the same Windows 2003 server as the 11.2 S Series NexPress front end V or VI DFE as long as Acrobat 9.x is installed.
Licensing
The SmartBoard 6.00 licensing scheme uses a USB dongle, a hardware key.
SmartBoard 6.00 can be licensed for Monochrome only or Monochrome and Color functionality. (Color license includes support for S Series and M Series devices.)
Document Access
Open documents directly from SmartBoard.
Work with documents in a variety of formats, including PDF, PostScript, image files, and Microsoft Office files; documents are converted to PDF automatically.
Use the PostScript - Import Job Ticket feature to search the KDK/DSC header for print settings and automatically create a corresponding SmartBoard Job Ticket.
Import data from multiple sources, including a TWAIN-compliant scanner VDX Support (if “Color” functionality is enabled)
Support for single file and multi file VDX documents
Capability to view JDF Intent embedded in VDX files (Note: Capabilities in this area will be limited to what the current Imposition view product handles. In other words, for this release it will be limited to JDF Intent embedded by Fusion Pro 3.1 or greater) Processing of embedded Imposition viewer JDF settings (if “Color” functionality is enabled).
Feature Summary
Will detect embedded Imposition viewer JDF settings and map them to SmartBoard settings when licensed for color (if no SmartBoard Job Ticket already exists). When the document is saved from SmartBoard, the SmartBoard Job Ticket will then be embedded in the VDX or PDF file. Any changes to the settings via SmartBoard will be reflected only in the SmartBoard settings. The embedded Imposition Viewer JDF settings will not be updated, read again, or merged.
Job Ticketing
Support for Monochrome and/or Color job ticketing depending on licensing Ability to identify a Device Type of Monochrome, S Series or M Series Job Ticket template tree presented in Windows Explorer “like” view.

Reorder last page for offline binding.
Narrow book making support allows booklets to be created and folded parallel to the long edge. This is done with the Select Long Edge Fold option in the Monochrome Job Ticket
Reverse order printing can be specified. Monochrome Job Ticket will contain a Page Order setting with the options: Face Down, Face Up, Reorder Last Sheet. Face Up can be selected to indicate the pages should be printed in reverse order.
Overprint Preview setting in the Color Job Ticket

Page Features
Create / modify Page Feature Templates.

Tab Creation
If licensed for Monochrome or Monochrome and Color:
Create cut tabs on media that isn’t actually a cut tab, such as a full 9x11 page. Media can then be cut after printing.
Note: Operator must understand if the device can print on an actual die-cut tab.
Create non-collated tabs for the M700 device. M700 does not support pre-collated media.
Create cut tabs in a new document and drag-and-drop them into an existing PDF document.
Create cut tabs in an existing document before a specified page, at the current page, or after a specified page.
Create bleed tab sections in an existing PDF document to identify page ranges or sections that need to be highlighted.
Identify page range for bleed tab section.
Begin a new bleed tab section at each page selected in Adobe Acrobat's thumbnail view.
Create tab templates for reuse.

Each new page contains two copies of the original page, imposed so that when the stack is cut in the middle, the cutting or binding edge will always be on the same side for accurate finishing.
Remove “X” from Work and Turn documents created in SmartBoard SE Mode.
Grid
Align front and back images easily.
Add a grid.
0 Literally adds a grid to every PDF page in the document (i.e. the page content is mod-ified).
0 The grid line spacing can be specified.

0 Since the grid is visible on the printed document, the operator can adjust for front-to-back registration.

Create Multiple Signatures
When color functionality is enabled, SmartBoard allows the user take a PDF document and “create multiple signatures” where each record can be printed as one signature when submitted to the color press. This is accomplished by creating a VDX document based off of the PDF document, where each signature is actually a VDX record. This functionality is intended for use with the Booklet maker for the Kodak digital production color press but it could be useful with other finishing devices as well.
Select all pages or a range of pages for printing.
Specify the number of copies to print.
Batch Print (available for Monochrome, S Series and M Series Color devices based on licensing)

Printer Status
If licensed for monochrome:
Quickly determine the state of each a digital production black-and-white printer by looking at the graphic next to the printer name.

Certified PDF
Create an Edit Log with Certified PDF logging. To create an edit log, an Enfocus Software product must be installed, such as the free Enfocus Certified PDF Reader or Enfocus PitStop. An Edit Log provides general file information (such as number of edit sessions, file profiles, and so on) as well as summaries of each edit session (including the user, date, and individual log entries).
