Some courses that you deliver are not IMO, MCA, DECC or ICS standard, are these courses worth taking?
Where applicable, OSRL courses carry the relevant level of certification. Where a course is awarded an OSRL Certificate of Completion, this is not because the course is irrelevant, or it is taught at an inadequate level, it is simply because oil spill response is such a wide subject that the awarding bodies do not currently recognise every aspect of spill response training covered by our courses.
If I take a course in Singapore will it be the same as the one delivered in the UK?
The course will be the same unless otherwise stated. For example, the Shipping Course will have region-specific content which will be different in Asia and the UK.
OSRL are presenting 3 different IMO Level 2 courses, which one is best for me?
Oil Spill Clearance – General oil spill knowledge-building training course.
Oil Spill Clearance is our flagship knowledge-building training course and it has a broad international focus. It provides an excellent level of oil spill response training for both inland and marine response and includes 3 hands-on practical exercises, inland, offshore and onshore.
UK Response and Control - UK-specific oil spill knowledge-building training course.
UK Response and Control is designed for On-Scene Commanders and Emergency Responders operating in the UK and includes UK-specific content and a shoreline and offshore exercise.
IMO Model Training Level 2 – Marine-based training course.
If you are looking for a purely marine-based Incident Command Level course our IMO Model Training Level 2 is the right choice.
When do I need to refresh my training certificate?
All courses delivered to an internationally recognised training standard - IMO, MCA, and DECC must be refreshed every 3 years to retain certification. To retain your certificate you will need to attend a one day refresher course within 36 months of your last course. OSRL recommends that all training is refreshed every 3 years, regardless of the level of certification.
When I book onto a course when will payment be due?
Payment must be received within 30 days of the invoice issue date. If the registration is received within 30 days prior to the course, payment must be received before the course start date.
When I book onto a DECC Level 1 E-learning course when will I be sent my password?
Your online access password will be issued as soon as payment has been received. The password is active for 12 months from the issue date.
Do you issue letters of invitation for people travelling to your UK and Singapore bases?
Yes we organise LOI’s for delegates travelling from abroad to our UK, Singapore, and Indonesia courses. Please let us know if one is required when you place your order. We don’t provide LOI’s for other internationally held courses. If you have any questions about letters of invitation please contact us.
Is accommodation always sourced for every course?
Accommodation is only sourced for our Singapore and Southampton courses.
Is parking available at your UK and Singapore bases?
Parking at our UK base is limited. There is no parking at our Singapore base. Public car parks are available near to both bases.
How do I get to and from my hotel to your bases every day?
If you book your hotel accommodation through OSRL you will automatically be allocated a place on our daily shuttle bus service. Once you book you will be sent full details in your joining instructions.
I need to get to the airport check-in an hour before the course is due to finish, can I leave early?
It is important to note that when you are booking your travel please ensure that your travel arrangements don’t affect your ability to attend the whole course. If you leave early, or don’t attend the entire course, you will not be awarded your certificate.
If I book my place on a course and then find I cannot attend will I be charged?
Please be aware that our cancellation and transfer policy has changed. yes, you will be charged.
Notice of 10 days or less. Cancellation will incur a 100% charge of the course fee and to transfer will incur a 50% charge of the course fee.
Notice of between 20 - 11 days. Cancellation will incur a 50% charge of the course fee and to transfer will incur a 25% charge of the course fee.
When we receive bookings we ensure that the resources required to support our delegates are put in place and late transferral or cancellation means that resources are charged to us regardless. When delegates decide that they can’t attend a few days before a course others can miss out. This policy change is designed to ensure that the standard of service that we provide is maintained.
