8. Conclusion
8.3 Future Development
Even though the application met all of the project’s requirements, there was great scope left for further development. Potential additional features were identified throughout the implementation process as well as those suggested by users during the user test. Some features, such as the ability to type in any desired location and have its forecast displayed, were not included due to time
constraints but would certainly be implemented in a commercially released version. Accurate daylight hours for the current forecast location’s time of year as well as other environmental seasonal changes would also be desired features.
38 The concept of customising the environment and/or having different environments for different locations would be a natural next step in development. Adding customisation such as this to the application could be particularly worthwhile in a commercial release to enhance the user experience. This could also open up the opportunity to offer in-app purchases on environment upgrades or the release of premium versions of the application tailored to specific locations.
Alternatively, these customisations could be used in some way to incentivise users to share the application with friends on social media platforms and thereby act as a promotional tool.
