i. Providing assistance in accessing the information irrespective of its location to the PG students, research scholars, executives, administration and even in the preparation of important documents for the University. ii. Guiding in the fair use of information, protecting intellectual property

rights, citation right and other social and legal issues. Creating awareness regarding citation standards, compiling bibliography, writing of technical reports, theses, dissertations etc.

iii. Developing library infrastructure, collection development, planning, services, and designing information products in different types of libraries. iv. Guiding the users to the proper use of different sources of information

(documentary sources, human and institutional sources).

v. Creating awareness regarding information literacy among the user community to become life long learners.

1. Students are motivated to involve themselves in in-depth studies learning and developing attitude towards research as well as the profession.

2. Stimulating counseling sessions are regularly organized for developing awareness and competitive spirit in securing the good placements in information industry.

Past students of the department who are serving in the leading IT industries are given an opportunity to motivate the students to have a broad vision of the job and the career opportunities, linkages with industrial establishments, IT firms also helped in placement of students and as a result, considerable number of products of the department are inducted into the well known information industries.

• Good infrastructure is available. • Good computer laboratory.

• Every year the department is organising two conferences regularly.

• All faculties are having publications with good h-index and impact factor of journals.

II. Commendations:

• It is the only department in the social science, which is having 100 per cent English medium students.

• Golden Jubilee Programme chalked out and the International Conference is planned.

• Placement is 100 per cent.

• Special efforts have been taken by the faculty in conducting of NET/SET coaching.

• Well equipped computer laboratory and classrooms. III. Recommendations:

1. Department is having collaborations with national and international agencies but need to have MOU with them.
