1.03 SHOP DRAWINGS
A. Shop drawings are technical drawings and data that have been specially prepared for this project, including but not limited to following items: 1.Fabrication and installation drawings.
2. Setting diagrams.
3. Shop work manufacturing instructions.
4. Templates.
5. Patterns.
6. Coordination drawings (for use on-site).
7. Schedules.
B. Standard information prepared without specific reference to a project is not considered to be shop drawings.
C. Use of Architect's Drawings: Architect will only provide Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) drawings to Contractor or subcontractor upon Architect's receipt of both a signed letter of indemnification (as provided by Architect) and a $200.00 service fee for each drawing sheet requested.
1.04 SAMPLES
A. Samples are physical examples of work, including but not limited to following items:
1. Partial sections of manufactured or fabricated work.
2. Small cuts or containers of materials.
3. Complete units of repetitively used materials.
4. Swatches showing color, texture and pattern.
5. Color range sets.
6. Units of work to be used for independent inspection and testing.
B. Office Samples: Of sufficient size and quantity to clearly illustrate:
1. Functional characteristics of product or material, with integrally related parts and attachment devices.
2. Full range of color, texture and pattern.
C. Field Samples and Mock-Ups:
1. Erect at project site at location acceptable to Architect.
1.05 VERIFIED REPORTS
A. Submit Verified Reports to Division of State Architect (DSA). Comply with Title 24, California Code of Regulations, Part 1, Sections 4-336 and 4-343.

1.08 CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES A. As defined in General Conditions.
B. Review shop drawings, product data and samples prior to submission.
C. Determine and Verify:
1. Field measurements.
2. Field construction criteria.
3. Catalog numbers and similar data.
4. Conformance with specifications.
D. Coordinate each submittal with requirements of Work and of Contract documents.
E. Notify Architect in writing, at time of submission, of any deviations in submittals from requirements of Contract Documents.
F. Do not begin fabrication or work which requires submittals until return of submittals with Architect's approval.
1.09 SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A. Make submittals promptly in accordance with approved schedule, and in such sequence as to cause no delay in work or in work of any other contractor.
B. Combine required items listed in Part 1 ASubmittals@ Article for each Specification Section into a single submittal. Incomplete or partial submittals will be returned without action for resubmittal in proper form.
C. Coordinate transmittal of different types of submittals for related elements of Work so processing will not be delayed by need to review submittals concurrently for
coordination.
1. Architect reserves right to withhold action on a submittal requiring coordination with other submittals until related submittals are received.
D. Accompany submittals with an accurately completed transmittal form provided by Architect. Submittals not accompanied by such a form, or where all applicable items on form are not completed, will be returned for resubmittal. A sample of transmittal form is bound in after this section.
E. Use a separate transmittal form for each specific item or class of material or equipment for which a submittal is required. Transmittal of submittals on various

constitute a manufacturer's "package" or are so functionally related that expediency indicates review of group or package as a whole.
F. Schedule submissions at least 20 working days before dates reviewed submittals will be needed. Modifications to 20 working days may be required when an excessive number (over 50 drawings) of shop drawings are submitted at one time.
1. No extension of Contract Time will be authorized because of failure to transmit submittals to Architect sufficiently in advance of Work to permit processing.
G. Number of Submittals Required: Submit number stated in each specification section, or as follows:
1. Shop Drawings: Submit one correctable reproducible transparency and two opaque prints. Reproducible transparency will be returned to Contractor.
Opaque prints will not be returned.
2. Product Data: Submit six copies of manufacturer's product data.
3. Samples: Submit number stated in each specification section, or, if not stated, submit two samples.
4. Warranties, Maintenance Agreements, Industry Standards, and Operating/Maintenance Manuals: Submit two copies.
H. Accompany submittals with transmittal form provided by Architect, containing:
1. Date.
2. Project title and number.
3. Contractor's name and address.
4. Number of each shop drawing, product data and sample submitted.
5. Notification of deviations from Contract Documents.
6. Other pertinent data.
4. Identification of product or material.
5. Relation to adjacent structure or materials.
6. Field dimensions, clearly identified as such.
7. Specification section number.
8. Applicable standards, such as ASTM number or Federal Specification.
9. A blank space, 8 inch by 3 inch, for Contractor and Architect stamps.
10. Identification of deviations from Contract Documents.
11. On each sheet, provide contractor's stamp, initialed or signed, certifying to review of submittal, verification of field measurements and compliance with Contract Documents.
12. Submittals without Contractor's review stamp on each sheet, will be returned, without action, for resubmittal.

A. Shop Drawings:
1. Revise initial drawings as required and resubmit as specified for initial submittal.
2. Indicate on drawings any changes which have been made other than those requested by Architect.
B. Product Data and Samples: Submit new data and samples as required for initial submittal.
1.11 DISTRIBUTION OF SUBMITTALS AFTER REVIEW
A. Distribute reproductions of Shop Drawings and copies of Product Data which carry Architect/Engineer stamp, with such reasonable promptness as to cause no delay in work, but no later than three working days of receipt, to:
1. Job site file.
2. Record Documents file.
3. Other affected contractors.
4. Subcontractors.
5. Supplier or Fabricator.
6. Owner's Inspector.
B. Distribute samples which carry Architect's review stamp as directed by Architect.
1.12 ARCHITECT'S DUTIES
A. As defined in General Conditions.
B. Architect will review submittals as originally submitted, as well as first resubmittal, at Architect's own cost. Architect's cost for reviewing additional resubmittals made or required, will be paid by Owner with reimbursement from Contractor by deductive change order.
C. Action Stamp: Architect will stamp each submittal with uniform, self-explanatory action stamp.
1. Stamp will be appropriately marked, as follows, to indicate action taken:
a. Final Unrestricted Release: Where submittals are marked "No Exception Taken” that part of Work covered by submittal may proceed provided it complies with requirements of Contract Documents
1) Final acceptance will depend upon that compliance.
b. Final-But-Restricted Release: When submittals are marked "Make Corrections Noted," that part of Work covered by submittal may proceed provided it complies with notations or corrections on submittal and requirements of Contract Documents
1) Final acceptance will depend on that compliance.
2. Returned for Resubmittal: When submittal is marked "Rejected" or "Revise and Resubmit", do not proceed with that part of Work covered by submittal, including purchasing, fabrication, delivery, or other activity.

ALTERATION PROJECT PROCEDURES
PART 1 GENERAL

1.2 RELATED SECTIONS
A. Section 01 73 29 – Cutting and Patching.

1.3 ALTERATIONS, CUTTING AND PROTECTION
A. Perform work of this Section under provisions of CBC Chapter 33, CFC Chapters 14 and 26, and NFPA 241.
B. Assign the work of relocating, removal, cutting and patching of products, materials, equipment and systems to trades qualified to perform the work, in a manner to cause the least damage to existing surfaces and provide a means of returning surfaces to the level of quality of new work.
C. Perform cutting and removal work to remove the minimum amount of materials necessary to accommodate new work and in a manner to avoid damage to adjacent work.
1. Cut finish surfaces such as concrete, masonry, drywall, plaster or metals in a straight line at a natural point of division or where required to perform the specified work.
D. Protect existing finishes, equipment and adjacent work that are scheduled to remain from damage.
1. Close openings in exterior surfaces to protect existing and new work from extremes of temperature.
a. Maintain existing interior work above 60 degrees F and below 85 degrees F.
b. Provide heat and humidity control as needed to prevent damage to existing work and to new work.
E. Provide temporary enclosures to separate work areas within the building and from areas occupied by Owner.

1. Provide same products, materials or types of construction as that in existing structure as required to patch, extend or match existing work.
2. A product, finish or type of construction that requires patching, extending or matching shall be installed as necessary to complete the Work and match the consistency of adjacent standards of quality.
B. Type and Quality of Existing Products: Determine by inspection and testing of products where necessary, referring to existing Work as a standard.
