Task 4: User Groups and Selection Variants

Use user groups and selection variants for working with the Batch Information Cockpit.

1. In the Customizing settings for batch management, user groups have already been defined with a reference to the SCM595 training course. Which selections exist in addition to the SAP standard selection?

2. Simulate the individual selections, and compare these with the SAP standard selection.

3. Start the Batch Information Cockpit with the selection SCM595 Batch Management. Enter any selection criteria you want. Use this selection option more often in future, and save as the selection variant SE_595_## (selection variant Group##). Save the variant as a private selection. Restart again and choose your selection variant. Enter data in the relevant fields.

4. Which settings do you need to make for the BIC to start using your selection variant?

Task 1: The Worklist Folder in the Batch Information Cockpit

1. Take a look at the defined worklist folders in Customizing.

Create your own private folder in Customizing.

a) Tools→ Customizing → IMG → Execute Project → SAP Reference IMG→ Logistics - General → Batch Management → Worklist → Define Worklist Folder

What does the flag public mean?

You can differentiate between public and private worklist folders. Folders can be assigned to any number of users. The content of a public folder can be viewed and edited by all users assigned to it. In private folders only those batches that the user has assigned can be displayed.

2. Assign the public folder PUBL to your user.

Assign your newly created private folder to your user.

Task 2: Using the Batch Information Cockpit

Use the Batch Information Cockpit to select and edit batches.

1. Call up the Batch Information Cockpit transaction. Select batches of materials in Plant 1100 that start with the letter “T”, and end with your group number.

a) Logistics→ Central Functions → Batch Management → Tools → Batch Information Cockpit (BMBC)

2. In the area Selection result for batches, select both materials Lauryl Alcohol and Lemon Juice, and copy all batches of these two materials to your private folder (standard folder or self-created). You can also select further materials or batches in the selection area and move them to the public folder.

Hint: If your selection results only contain material numbers, you can change the settings for your user as follows:

Utilities→ User Settings →  Format of Material a) Copy the selection to the folder

In the selection results area in the left navigation pane, select the two materials Lauryl Alcohol and Lemon Juice. To do so, hold down the control key while selecting the two materials with the left-hand mouse button. Click the button Selection in Folder, and select the correct folder (standard folder or your own new folder). You can also select further materials or batches in the selection area and move them to the public folder.

3. Exit the Batch Information Cockpit transaction, and call it again. What do the public and private folders contain?

Start a new selection by entering the batch class N-003 as an additional selection. Make sure that batches are not displayed if they are not classified.

a) Call the Batch Information Cockpit again.

The private folder should contain the batches of both materials copied to it from the previous task. The public folder contains batches copied into it by both yourself and other course participants.

4. Select all batches of materials Y-500-## and 350-100 in Plant 1100.

In the selection result for batches, switch to the List display.

Activate the selection result for stock using the relevant icon. Use the magnifying glass icon to enlarge the stock overview. In the selection result for stockarea, select the button display as list.

5. Display the freely used stocks in the selection result for stock. Sort the selected batches by the status Unrestricted. Add up the quantities of unrestricted stock.

6. In the area selection result for batches, select Batch C4 of the Material 350-100, and find out how this batch is used.

In the area selection result for batches, select Batch C4 of the material 350-100.

If the batch master record is displayed in the right pane, navigate to the batch where-used list with Detail - Usage.

Task 3: The User Settings in the Batch Information Cockpit

You can save your personal default settings for the Batch Information Cockpit in the SAP-System using the User Settings function.

1. Call up the Batch Information Cockpit transaction again. Configure the Batch Information Cockpit with the aid of user settings according to the following criteria:

Deactivate the selection result for stock.

Assign Batch worklist and Selection result for batches so that the Batch worklist is displayed above the Selection result for batches.

Widen the navigation area to 100 mm.

Change the display of the material to Material Number (material short text).

Save your user settings and restart the Cockpit in order to check the changes.

a) Logistics→ Central Functions → Batch Management → Tools → Batch Information Cockpit(BMBC)

Then Utilities→ User Settings

• Deactivate the Selection results for stock.

Assign Batch worklist (1) and Selection result for batches (2).

In the user settings, assign the user group SCM595 to SCM595 Batch Management, and save your settings.

a) In the user settings (under Utilities) you can specify that user group SCM595 and variant SE_955_## are automatically used when you restart the transaction. You can also tell the system to start a selection automatically.
