Installing from Customized Install Diskettes Notes:
1. If a component does not exist on the customized install diskettes, it is not in the list of components and is not installed.
2. If you are not installing all the components and you are using install diskettes, you are prompted for the correct diskette. Not all diskettes are used.
An installation and a migration wizard guides you through the installation and migration process step-by-step. The installation wizard copies the files that are required for Client Access. The migration wizard automates the process of moving from a previous Client Access client (for example Windows 3.1 or DOS Extended) to the Windows 95/NT client by updating configuration information. You can also automate the installation process.
__ 1. To install from IBM AS/400 Support for Windows Network Neighborhood (AS/400 NetServer):
a. Click the Start button, highlight Find and click on Computer.
b. Enter the system name of your AS/400 NetServer (for example, QSYSTEM1).
c. Double click on the AS/400 NetServer to open it.

h. Double click on Setup. The Client Access Install Wizard walks you through the install process.
Notes:
1) To administer an AS/400 NetServer within a graphical user interface, install the Operations Navigator component of Client Access.
2) AS/400 NetServer shares the QCA400 directory with Client Access, so that users can install Client Access onto client PCs.
3) If you want to allow AS/400 NetServer guest access to AS/400 shared resources, you must configure the AS/400 NetServer general properties with a user profile for guest or anonymous users.
Note: A guest or anonymous user is a network user without an AS/400 user profile.
4) For more information, see “Appendix A. IBM AS/400 Support for Windows Network Neighborhood (AS/400 NetServer) Information” on page 407.
__ 2. To install from compact disc, network drive, new release diskettes, or peer server, do the following option that matches your install media.
Chapter 23. Installing and Migrating Client Access on Your PC 171
__ a. For a compact disc, insert the compact disc in a compact disc drive.
__ b. For a network drive, map a network drive to the installation image. See
“Mapping a network drive from Windows 95/NT” on page 333.
__ c. For new release diskettes, insert setup diskette 1 in a floppy disk drive.
__ d. For a peer server, go to “Installing From a Peer Server” on page 180 for peer server installation instructions.
__ 3. Click the Start button, then click Run.
v Do one of the following from the Run prompt:
– d:\setup (if you are using CD-ROM) - d is the CD-ROM drive name – x:\setup (if you use a network drive) - x is the mapped drive name – a:\setup (if you are using diskettes) — a is the diskette drive name __ 4. Follow the instructions on the display. Click Next to continue through the setup
process.
The installation wizard prompts you to choose the type of installation that you want:
Typical You install Client Access base support with the most common options:
Base Support, AS/400 Operations Navigator (Operations Navigator Base Support and Basic Operations), Graphical Access, AFP Workbench Viewer, 5250 Display and Printer Emulation (Standard PC5250), Data Transfer, Systems Network Architecture (SNA) Communications Support. We recommend this option for most users.
(This requires approximately 53032K of disk space.) A license is required.

Notes:
a. Printer drivers
If you are installing on Windows NT, the printer drivers are also included.
b. Operations Navigator
AS/400 Operations Navigator consists of several sub-components.
Only Operations Navigator Base Support and Basic Operations are installed in a Typical or Minimum install. To install additional Operations Navigator sub-components, select Custom install and select the additional AS/400 Operations Navigator sub-components.
Minimum
You install Client Access with the minimum options: Base Support, AS/400 Operations Navigator (Operations Navigator Base Support and Basic Operations) and Graphical Access. (This requires approximately 28858K of disk space.) A license is not required.
Note: AS/400 Operations Navigator consists of several
sub-components. Only Operations Navigator Base Support and Basic Operations are installed in a Typical or Minimum install. To install additional Operations Navigator sub-components, select Custom install and select the additional AS/400 Operations Navigator sub-components.
Custom
You choose the options that you want to install. (This requires
approximately 17851K to 82360K of disk space.) A license is required if you choose components that require a license. Certain components have sub-components that can also be installed. If the checkbox is gray and checked, only some of the sub-components are installed. (see Figure 123 on page 174). Click on the Details button to select additional sub-components.
Chapter 23. Installing and Migrating Client Access on Your PC 173
To Server
You install Client Access to a server. Nothing is installed on your personal computer. You can use this option to install to a server and later install from that server to a PC. A license is required if you install components that require a license. Creating install diskettes gives you better performance than the To Server install.
Note: The To Server install option is available for the English language only. We recommend that all customers use the Create Install Diskettes function to a server instead of the To Server function.
See “Creating Client Access Installation and Service Pack diskettes” on page 189 for information on how to do this.
If you are installing on Windows 95 and you selected the 16–bit API support or PC5250, you are asked about changes to the autoexec.bat file before the install starts. You can choose to have the program change the autoexec.bat file, save the required changes to a file that is called autoexec.new or not make any changes.
Note: If you do not allow changes to the autoexe.bat file:
v 16–bit API support will not work.
v you must set up the paths yourself to use EHLLAPI functions.
__ 5. When the installation wizard finishes processing, the migration wizard automatically starts.
Figure 123. Component Selection - Only some of the Operations Navigator sub-components are selected, so the check box is gray.
The migration wizard looks for one of the following Client Access installations on your personal computer:
v Windows 3.1 client
v DOS Extended client (with DOS)
v DOS Extended client (with DOS and Windows)
If the migration wizard finds one of these client installations on your personal computer, the wizard prompts you to choose the type of migration that you want:
Express
Your existing installation is migrated with a set of default parameters, and a summary of what is migrated is displayed.
Custom
You may choose the parameters that are used to migrate your existing installation.
For more information about migration, see “What Happens When You Migrate a Client” on page 192.
If you have followed all of the instructions on the workstation display, then installation is complete. If you have a service pack, go to “Installing Client Access Service Packs” on page 189 . To install additional languages or components, go to “Selective
Install/Uninstall” on page 184.
