7.3 Installing IBM Records Manager

7.3.1 Installing IBM Records Manager V4.1.1 database

As mentioned earlier, IBM Records Manager V4.1.1 database is a prerequisite for a V4.1.3 database. You have to perform this step if you do not already have an existing installation of IBM Records Manager V4.1.1 or V4.1.2. IBM Records Manager V4.1.3 installation does not provide creation of the IBM Records Manager database. It requires that you to have an existing one from V4.1.1 or V4.1.2 and upgrade from there. This database exists only temporarily.

Required information during installation

Table 7-1 provides the information that you need while installing IBM Records Manager V4.1.1 database. The table includes the default value and sample value for each field with a brief description for each field when necessary.

Note: Our description is for installing IBM Records Manager on a Windows

system using only DB2 as databases. For other platforms, this instruction serves only as a reference. You need to refer to the product manual for detailed instructions for other platforms.

Detailed installation steps

To install IBM Records Manager, perform the following detailed steps: 1. As Windows administrator, create an administrative Windows user (for

example,

irmadmin

). Make it member of the DB2ADMNS group. 2. From the installation media for IBM Records Manager V4.1.1, start the

Installation Launchpad. Select your preferred choice of language for the Launchpad.

3. Select Database Installation. Figure 7-1 shows the Launchpad with Database Installation selected.

4. Select your preferred choice of language for the Installation Wizard. 5. Click Next on the Welcome window.

6. Read the license agreement, select I accept and click Next on the License Agreement window.

8. On the Installation Directory Selection window, keep the default location or change to a directory of your choice. Click Next.

9. On the Database Type window, select DB2 and enter the location of the DB2 JDBC driver. Usually, this driver can be found in the Java directory of the DB2 installation directory. In a standard DB2 installation, it is in C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\java. Click Next.

10.On the Database Creation window, select Automatic and click Next. 11.In the Database Configuration window, complete the information required to

create the new database:

DB2 Node/Instance Name

: Usually this is DB2.

Database Name

: This is the name for the temporary IBM Records

Manager v4.1.1 database. You can enter any name that you want. We use

IRM411

.

Default Disk

: This is the default disk drive letter where you want to locate the database containers. We use

C:

.

Folder for Database Containers:

A folder is where you want to locate the database containers. We use

C:\DB2

.

User Name

and

User Password

: User ID and password of the owner of the temporary IBM Records Manager V4.1.1 database.

Territory

: Leave it as is. We use

Collating Sequence

: If there is no need to change the collating sequence,

12.Click Next.

13.On the Database File plan window, select empty and click Next.

14.Read the summary on the Installation Summary window, and click Next. 15.Wait for the database to be created. On the Completed window, click Finish. 16.In the Installation Launchpad, select Exit.
