RSVP and participate in the Application Meeting.
Obtain instructions and access code for the School Counseling Internship ELC course site in order to access application information and familiarize yourself with the resources available, particularly, the School Counseling Program Manual.
Login to Tk20 to access the “School Counseling Internship Application Fall 2013/Spring 2014.” Instructions are also located in ELC. Click on resources tab and open the
“Internship Application Forms” file.
Complete, scan and upload the “Internship Eligibility and Approval Form” to Tk20.
Prepare a generic cover letter (i.e. addressed to “Whom it May Concern” with “Dear Sir/Madam” as a salutation) so that it may be submitted to any one of your top 3 school district choices (see cover letter and resume tips located in ELC resources tab). Then scan and upload it to Tk20.
Prepare a professional resume then scan and upload it to Tk20 (see cover letter and resume tips located in ELC resources tab).
Students are required to work no more than 20 hours per week during internship. Obtain a letter from your employer on company letterhead verifying your weekly hours. Then scan and upload it to Tk20.
Complete a TB test. Obtain a note from a physician that states you are free from TB. Be sure your TB test results are no older than 1 year from the start of your internship. Then scan and upload it to Tk20.
Secure professional liability insurance and ensure that it will remain active throughout the course of your internship experience. Then, upload a copy of your proof of insurance to Tk20. (Now included with ACA or ASCA membership.)

All applicants (Fall and Spring) must complete and submit their entire internship application to Tk20 by March 15th.
Submit your fingerprints with payment to CJIS for a full state and FBI background check for childcare professionals using the 10-digit JHU authorization code: #9500019852. Be sure your prints are submitted no earlier than 180 days (6 months) from the start of your Internship. A copy of your background check clearance letters will be sent directly to JHU once processed. Complete or be in the process of completing all required coursework prior to internship (39 credits and all lab courses including Practicum).
If you are working, be sure to contact the human resources office at your place of employment to begin making arrangements for leave, if necessary.

Register for the Internship in School Counseling course (ED.863.820). Registration occurs in July for the fall semester and November for the spring semester. Be prepared to settle tuition costs.
Sign-up for the CPCE. An email notification with details will go out via the Counseling and Human Development Program’s Listserv and on ELC with instructions on how to sign up. The CPCE is offered each fall (September), spring (January), and summer (June) semesters on a Saturday or Sunday at a JHU campus. You must receive a passing score on the CPCE in order to graduate. See the School Counseling Program Manual for the CPCE Policy and Guidelines.
Please note that some districts require additional fingerprinting that is separate from the Counseling and Human Development Program’s requirement. (Please see the “School District Fingerprinting Requirements” spreadsheet in the resources tab of you School Counseling Internship ELC course site.) Also, some districts have additional application forms to be completed by the intern. The Field Experience Coordinator will contact you directly with any additional instructions for specific school districts.
When you receive your placement assignment from the Field Experience Coordinator, contact your site supervisor to arrange a compatible schedule and set-up your first visit.
Regularly check your JHU email address and be sure to also update your contact information in ISIS.

Internship and Practicum Application Quick Guide
To create and submit an application in Tk20, please follow the directions below:
1) Log into the Tk20 system via the JHU portal- http://portal.jhu.edu
2) Enter your JHED ID and password (this is the same login and password you use to access ISIS).
3) Click on the Tk20 icon, located on the left-hand side of the screen. The icon will most likely be toward the bottom so you may need to scroll down.
4) Select the Applications tab.
5) Click create.
6) Select the appropriate application form from the drop-down menu.
7) Fill out the application, being sure to complete all required fields.
8) Once you have completed the application, click Submit. There is a Save option that allows you to complete parts of the application over time; however, you need to click Submit to officially turn in your application for review.
9) If you need to make a change to an application after submitting, select the application and click Recall. Make any necessary changes and click Submit.

Field Experience Placement Notification Quick Guide
To view a field experience placement in Tk20, please follow the directions below.
If you are a Student or University Supervisor,
1) Log into the Tk20 system via the JHU Portal- http://portal.jhu.edu
2) Enter your JHED ID and password (this is the same login and password you use to access ISIS). If you are unsure of your JHED ID and password or are having trouble logging into the JHU Portal, please call 410-516-HELP.
3) Click on the Tk20 icon, located on the left-hand side of the screen. The icon will most likely be toward the bottom so you may need to scroll down.
4) On the Home tab and in the Recent Messages box, click on “Notice of Field Placement.”
If you are a Cooperating Teacher or Mentor,
1) Log into the Tk20 system using this URL- https://jhu.tk20.com
2) Enter in your username and password, which are the following, and click Login.
Username= first initial + last name + 0000 (e.g.; kthompson0000)
Password= your school district/work email address (this is case sensitive) You will be prompted to change your password before proceeding.
3) On the Home tab and in the Recent Messages box, click on “Notice of Field Placement.”
