Family Outcome-Centered Unification Services is a specialized program that provides intensive time-limited family preservation and reunification services to families in Lee, Macon, Russell, Chambers, Tallapoosa, Coosa and Elmore Counties. With a focus on child safety, these services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each family referred by DHR. Services offered by F.O.C.U.S. are based on the Homebuilders Model and Functional Family Therapy. Both Models are evidence-based and family-focused and are designed for in-home service provision.

Continuum of Family Care (COFC):

The Lee County COFC program is a home-based program which started in November, 2006, in partnership with the State and Lee County Departments of Human Resources. COFC brings together a continuum or array of service disciplines with a goal of serving at-risk children and their families in the least disruptive, most seamless manner possible.

The COFC program employs a staff of in-home service professionals who focus on meeting the immediate or chronic, ongoing needs of families in crisis in an effort to prevent the placement of children outside of the home.

In cases where residential care is advisable, COFC coordinates both placement and reunification efforts.

COFC currently serves up to 10 families referred to the program by Lee County DHR. Utilizing a multi-systemic, family-driven approach, service providers are prepared to coach, model support and intervene in an effort to strengthen family dynamics and assist with keeping children safe and productive. For more information concerning COFC, call (334) 364-0766 or email Shonda Davis at [email protected].

Comprehensive Family Services:

A home-based multi-systemic program in which LCYDC staff partner with Lee County DHR social workers to provide wrap-around services to families. CFS therapists and family service workers tailor interventions to meet the needs of families to ensure child safety and preserve or reunify families.

Therapeutic Foster Care:

Provides intensive therapeutic and specialized services to children and teens (including sibling groups and teen moms). Length of stay varies as needed. Referrals are accepted from DHR. Program provides supportive intervention and nurturing environment for abused or emotionally conflicted children in the homes of trained foster parents located throughout Lee and adjacent counties. For information on becoming a therapeutic foster parent, please email your request to [email protected].

Step-Down Therapeutic Foster Care:

Children who have progressed sufficiently in TFC and require a reduced level of services in the TFC home, are eligible for Step-Down Therapeutic Care. The recommendation of the child's Family Planning Team is required for the reduced level of care. In the event that the child may indicate the need for intensified services, the child will be stepped up to the more intensive TFC level of care.

Eligibility Requirements: Depends upon specific program.

Waiting List: Yes (Depending on program)

Preferred Referral Procedure: Depends on program. Call for details.

Fees: Depends on the program.

Transportation Provided: Yes.

Area Served: Counties statewide, main concentration in East Alabama.
