How can I upgrade my NetGenie appliance with malware signature updates if I am not connected to Internet?
NetGenie provides the option to manually upload malware signatures. You can download them from download.netgenie.net when you have Internet connectivity and store them in your machine for later use. Whenever you want to manually upload signature files,
1. Log in to NetGenie with administrator credentials.
2. Go to System Signature Updates.
3. Under Manually Upload Signature section, browse signature files from the machine, which you want to upload.
4. Click Apply.

What is the use of Diagnostic Tools?
Diagnostic tools can be used to identify appliance related problems and aid the administrator to take corrective action.
To use NetGenie diagnostic tools:
1. Login to NetGenie using administrator credentials.
2. Go to Network Settings Diagnostics page.

To use Name Lookup, select the Interface to use, enter the IP Address or Host name in the Name Lookup Section and click “Name Lookup”.

How can I check availability of upgrade(s) available for my NetGenie appliance?
NetGenie notifies the administrator regarding availability of new firmware at the time of login.
Administrator can choose either to upgrade the firmware or skip the notification pop-up. If the administrator skips it then NetGenie keeps notifying the administrator till either the upgrade is done or ‘Check for firmware upgrades upon Login’ option in System Firmware Upgrade is disabled.
Alternately, you can check for firmware upgrades manually by clicking “Check” against the
“Check for latest firmware upgrades on Internet” field.

How can I upgrade my NetGenie firmware version?
You can upgrade NetGenie firmware to the latest firmware available. Availability of latest firmware can be checked in various ways. To know how to check firmware availability, click here.
NetGenie can be upgraded in 3 ways:
Automatic Upgrade: NetGenie notifies the administrator upon login if a newer firmware version is available. Direct download and upgrade of the newer firmware can be done from the notification screen itself.
From GUI: You can check for latest available firmware from NetGenie GUI and then upgrade.
Manual Upgrade: Here, upgrade is to be done manually.
Note:
Before upgrading, it is recommended to take back-up of your current NetGenie configuration so that it can be restored in case of mishaps. To know how to take backup of NetGenie

Automatic Upgrade
To upgrade NetGenie to the latest firmware follow the steps given below.
1. Log in to NetGenie with administrator credentials.
2. If there is a new firmware available, a notification is displayed as soon as you login.

The appliance will automatically download the latest firmware available, upgrade the firmware and reboot the system. This takes a few minutes. It is advisable to not interrupt the upgrade process by closing the window.
