The door gasket is held in place by a retaining plate that is screwed to the door assembly.

To remove the door gasket, (See Figure 7-91):

1. Pull inside edge of gasket out to expose mounting screws.

2. Extract mounting screws from gasket retainers.

3. Pull retaining plates and gasket from door.

Light and Fan Switches

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

The switches are attached to a bracket that is fastened to the bottom of the cabinet. The switches are activat-ed by a bracket that is mountactivat-ed to the bottom of door assembly.

To remove a light and/or fan switch, (See Figures 7-92):

1. Remove kickplate.

2. Extract screws from switch mounting bracket.

3. Disconnect wire leads.

4. With needle-nose pliers from inside of bracket, depress plastic retaining clips and then pull switch from mounting bracket.

Thermostat Control Removal

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

The thermostat control is located behind the front right side of the blower cover.

To remove thermostat control (See Fig 7-93 and 7-94):

1. Pull control knob from control shaft.

2. Extract screws from control faceplate.

3. Extract screws from bottom of blower cover, then lower blower cover down.

The light bulb and light socket are located behind the blower cover, with the socket mounted to the back side of the blower wrapper.

To remove the light bulb, turn it counterclockwise.

To remove the light socket, the blower cover must be dropped from its installation, then (See Figure 7-95):

1. Disconnect wire leads from light socket.

2. Depress the retaining clips at back side of light socket and push it from the bracket.

Icemaker Removal

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

The icemaker is located in the upper left hand corner of freezer compartment and is secured with screws to the icemaker plate mounted on the compartment sidewall.

To remove icemaker, remove ice bucket and wire shelves first, then (See Figure 7-96):

1. Remove front cover of icemaker.

2. Extract icemaker mounting screws from compart-ment sidewall.

3. Lower and turn icemaker so that electrical connec-tions are visible. With small flat-bladed screwdriver, depress retaining tab and gently pull wire harness from icemaker. Extract pink wire from retaining clip mounted on side of icemaker. (See Figure 7-98) 4. The icemaker plate is removed by extracting the

screws securing the plate to the compartment side-wall.

Fill Tube Heater

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

The defrost terminator is located on the upper left side of the evaporator and is secured with a retaining clip on the outlet tubing.

To remove the defrost terminator, the evaporator cover must be removed, then (See Figure 7-98):

1. Disconnect defrost terminator electrical leads.

2. Remove defrost terminator by sliding top section of the clip out from under the bent bottom section, then remove defrost terminator from unit.

Drain Tube Heater Removal

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

The drain tube heater is a braided wire that extends from the evaporator area down into the drain tube of the blower cover.

To remove the drain tube heater, the evaporator cover must be removed, then (See Figure 7-99):

1. Disconnect drain tube heater electrical leads.

2. Extract screw that secures drain tube heater wires to the evaporator support and pull heater from drain tube.

Retaining Clip

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

The evaporator fan assembly is mounted with screws to evaporator support behind the evaporator, at the rear of the blower wrapper. The fan motor is secured with screws to the fan bracket that fastens directly into the fan motor housing.

To remove the evaporator fan motor assembly, the evaporator assembly must be disconnected from the ceiling of the compartment first. To do this:

1 Extract screws from front mounting slots securing evaporator assembly to ceiling and loosen screws at rear keyhole slots (See Figure 7-100). Then, push evaporator assembly towards rear of unit until screw heads pass through keyhole slots.

2 Disconnect all electrical leads from back of evapo-rator assembly (See Figure 7-100).

3. Remove rear cover from back of unit(See Figure 7-101). Then, extract screw from clamp securing heat exchanger to back of unit.

4. Carefully bend and push heat exchanger into unit compartment until evaporator can be rotated to allow clearance to drill out rivets (See Figure 7-102).

5. Drill out rivets securing blower wrapper to evapora-tor support and separate blower wrapper from evaporator support.

6. Disconnect fan motor electrical leads.

7. Pull fan blade from motor shaft.

8. Extract fan motor bracket mounting screws. (See Figure 7-102)

9. Extract screws that pass through the fan motor bracket and fasten into the fan motor, then remove fan assembly from unit.

7-43 Defrost Heater

NOTE: Electrical shock hazard. Refer to warnings at beginning of section.

The defrost heater is secured to the bottom of the evaporator with two metal clips.

To remove defrost heater (See Figure 103):

1. Separate blower wrapper from evaporator supports as described in Evaporator Fan Assembly Removal directions.

2. Disconnect defrost heater electrical leads.

3. With a needle-nose pliers, pull tab of defrost heater retaining clips from the evaporator, then pull the heater from the fins of the evaporator.
