Monitoring and Evaluation

In document Master Technology Plan (Page 70-77)

7a. Overall Progress and Impact Evaluation

The Technology Steering Committee will meet at least quarterly to review plan priorities, implementation progress, and resource use. Within the first plan year, the Technology Steering

Committee will review the Year 1 Benchmarks. The Chief Technology Officer and Education Technology Coordinator will present to the committee the measures and tools that will be used to test whether or not the Benchmarks have been met. Annually, the Information Technology Team will provide a summary assessment of the year’s progress to the Technology Steering Committee, Executive Cabinet, and Board of Education. The Technology Steering Committee will have the authority to amend timelines to achieve benchmarks to adjust based on teacher and student feedback and comfort with the changes, emergence of new technologies, funding availability, or other factors that may impact the plan

implementation.

IUSD will use a variety of instruments to monitor the successful implementation of the plan and its impact on teaching and learning, including, but not limited to:

 Teacher Technology Use Survey (IUSD Created)

 Student Technology Use Survey

 Speak-Up Surveys

 School Climate Surveys

 Qualitative Feedback from staff, students, parents and community members

 System usage data

 Student performance, deportment, and at-risk-status data

 Technology performance and availability monitoring tools.

7b. Evaluation Schedule

Evaluation of the plan will begin in Summer 2014. Initial measures will be presented to the Technology Steering Committee. Updates on the plan’s progress and data collection will occur at least quarterly.

The Technology management team will present a formal recap of the prior school year’s activities and benchmarks in fall of the following year.

7c. Communicating Evaluation Results

Data to support the evaluation of the plan will be aggregated and analyzed by the Information Technology Management Team (Chief Technology Officer, Education Technology Coordinator, and Information Services Director). Preliminary findings will be brought to the Technology Steering Committee for review and discussion. The Technology Steering Committee will provide feedback and independent analysis. Incorporating input from the Technology Steering Committee, the Information Technology Management Team will draft a written annual report. The annual report will be shared with Executive Cabinet and the Board of Education. After internal reviews are complete, the annual update will be posted to the District’s website to support broad community access. In addition to posting the results, IUSD will share its experiences and evaluation with other local education agencies through County and professional association meetings and events.
